I think this is a metaphor for depression. Every day just getting out of bed is like swimming in a black ocean with a beast trying to hold you back. Once you get out into the light for just a few moments, tomorrow comes and you are faced with the same struggle again, just getting out of bed. So few people really understand what that struggle is like, when you are so used to sadness it almost comforts you, try and escape and it will drown you.

monster can be nafs or man's ego too.. the struggle between heart and the mind.. fear and love.. we are trying to find balance in an unstable world... ı am so in love. great animation.

I think the end shows this as a series of challenges. You can choose between good and bad in each situation. Sometimes your yetzer haRa (evil inclination) triumphs and sometimes your yetzer haTov (good inclination) does. It's easier to let your yetzer haRa have control over you and takes more work to choose the yetzer haTov. I thought your symbolism was great. The yetzer haRa seems like his friend but his yetzer haTov leads him to Etz haChayim (Tree of Life).

Todd Seifert i think its just a easier view on life. that the tree is the dream u have and the monster is the one stoping u and u need to win over it even tho the monster could be the one conforting you. (sorry im bad at explaining, and engslish)

I love this.... And I'm in love with the animation of the monster. I recognise the monster as something like sadness... It's comfortable until you try to escape it. But the ending.... Is that like depression? Different layers of depression and sadness. Either way, I LOVE this!!

Amazing. One of the best short movies I ever saw; I feel like it was made for me!! At the end, I was like : "Noooooo! seriously??" but actually, I feel like this very often, like : the fight against your inner demon (melancholy, depression, anguish...) is never over You fight, after an eternity at last you win, and it starts all over again. Just : wow.

Wow very good. The call from soul to looking for the truth. You go to the light but the mind doesn't like it. The mind make anxiety stop you to go to the light and the truth. I heard the call of my soul and I was looking for the truth but my mind makes me anxiety and so I am afraid to move on. I like you animation. I think to make a spiritual animation is very hard job. Harder than other animations.
