I've been following your tutorials, I have a quick question, as a beginner: I can't seem to understand when one would use 2d tracking like you do here, and when you would do 3d tracking like you did in the next video in line, where you track your living room? What is the utility of each method? You show wonderfully how to do each, but I don't understand the difference in practical application

Hey loved your tutorial! You deserve more subs tbh. I hope you upload more content.

Great tutorial, thank you for the valuable content! I have a few questions. 1. On a hi-end shot would you always start with manual tracking like in this tutorial or start with auto tracking? 2. How many trackers do I need to accurately solve 3D camera in Syntheye?
@Trendish_channel Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks! What is the reason of tracking backwards if we tracked it forward already? I can`t understand that...

Nothing wrong with giving some loving to the back :D hehe

No one at Track VFX knows what that means. We're too clean and innocent!

Thx for video ,but how many tracker we need to be have a good tracking for cg production? 15 at least ?
@stevejones015 жыл бұрын
great tut on supervised tracking very clear. I did a test after this video and got a .35 solve. What is the standard minimum tracker count in the industry? I like to reverse engineer stuff. I do motion tracking to reverse engineer my camera motion. I bought Syntheyes for this very reason.
@trackvfx67605 жыл бұрын
Steve Stanfield The standards will vary on the complexity of the shot. And a lot of studios settle for less than our expectations. On a shot like in this tutorial it might be around a hundred trackers. Mainly because it's an extremely easy and ideal shot to work on. More points means better overall point solves (3D positions) and a better calculated distortion. If there's plenty of detail and you have time, best make it as close to perfect as possible. :) Some shots are so tough we can only track 2 points and do the rest of the move by hand. so basically the ideal numbers will shift around. This is a topic i should talk about in a video soon.

Hi, is there a new shortcup to lock caméra? When I press 5 it does center on the track but doesn't stick to it when I change frame...
@trackvfx676011 ай бұрын
Ah yeah. 5 on the NumPad does this. You should use the 5-key on the number bar.

Great tute! It would be awesome if you put all the hotkeys you use in the description ;)
@trackvfx67603 жыл бұрын
Funny you say that. There's an updated 2D tracker tutorial on the channel that I uploaded a week or two ago. Much more clear on the hotkeys. But a list would be a good idea actually. I may do that if I get time!

I don't like hotkeys because i have an actual problem with memory. So i orient myself with visual queues on the menus. It's a nightmare otherwise.

how can i make my tracking 3d without using solve? i added all the trackers manually as there were too many reflective wall, and when i press solve, it added some trackers and eventually camera movement was totally wrong
@trackvfx67604 жыл бұрын
If it added trackers it sounds like you hit the big auto button under the summary tab. You can press SHIFT G or hit the big green GO button under the Solver tab. You can watch my basic camera solve tutorial to help you out with a solve if you needed it. Hope that helped!
@cleanmyhead84064 жыл бұрын
i didnt hit auto button, i pressed Go button under the solver and i also tried Shift+G and it keeps adding some (5,6?)additional tracker and eveltually ended up with wrong tracking😂

Question about auto-trackinhg in SynthEyes. I created a mask and when I try to run the auto-tracks, all the trackers end up inside the mask and not outside the mask. In PFtrack once a mask is being created, the auto tracker will not track what's inside, but in SynthEyes it puts trackers in the features inside the mask. What am I missing here? Also, I would appreciate if you visit my other channel: kzbin.infofeatured - Maybe we can collaborate....

Sorry late response. :( I'm much more active on Discord. Mathew Merkovich has a great series on Autotracking in Syntheyes. I'm not a huge believer of autotracks in most cases so I'm not super great with them. Sorry I can't do much. But Mathew's tutorials on Autos are great!
