I wish I knew your channel sooner :(((((. I have the exactly problem in Blender's motion tracking. My camera path is so jitter because I didn't have many tracker (cuz character is too big, 2/3 of frame, and blurry background). I wondered is there any way to smooth my camera path (cuz Blender doesn't have any feature like that), and until now, I found your channel. Your content is not popular for everyone but really helpful for some people like me. Thank you!

Alright, this is four years old, and I only found it now, but: so grateful for this! I just had to get re-quainted with Syntheyes, I don’t do a lot of match moving, but this… Wonderful walk-through! Thank you very much. Much appreciated.

My old stuff like this doesn't have anything about the full list of Constraints. This will be changing soon but newer live streams on this channel and the old live channel all touch on them. I'd HIGHLY recommend that over how I just dropped points in this video ha. In the new year everything is changing.

Was wandering how many trackers are needed to solve a camera in Syntheyes and how many of them need for an object track please? Didn't find the information online maybe you know!
@trackvfx676016 күн бұрын
Syntheyes only really needs 4 trackers for a solve to calculate. Same with objects. But that doesn't automatically mean the solution will be good. Even if you have 100 points on your cam and object, how they position themselves in space is dependent on how much parallax is in the shot. You might have a solve, but with such little movement, there's no guarantee these 3D points found a realistic position in space. And then you'd likely need constraints.

I cannot for the life of me sort this zooming shot. I'm following your tutorial, and its getting me CLOSE! but some of the trackers still float off in weird directions, i know how I performed the zoom so I edited the FOV keyframes like you did and constrained it, I realized it was animating the axis lock enable button on first few frames which tripped me up. Got that sorted out, still though, stuff is floating around and i'm at about 2.5 hpix error. calc distortion, and my distortion does not look normal its like a rectangle with a bulbous circle in hte middle and the very center of the frame has this insane fisheye distortion haha. I did a similar shot, walking forward a bit and doing a somewhat fast zoom. It is blurry and out of focus for a little bit so maybe that is just making the tracking difficult. Anyway, practicing.. . and TRYING to understand how to solve a zoom shot. I wonder if one has a lens with lens data how that could be loaded in for perfect focus and zoom values, that'd be interesting. Although I'm just manually doing one myself so that's a luxury I don't have haha. Thanks for posting this! Maybe i'll be able to crack the code on it this week. I've tried for 2 days in a row, no luck yet.

would you be able to post the shot so we could practice on the same thing you're showcasing? Maybe that's not always possible, but I'd love to follow along if I could.

I'm very confused with this shot i'm trying to track..... its because its a tripod lockoff and i guess i only need to track the object? It's a coffee cup being grabbed and i want to try to do a liquid simulation in the cup. Im getting stuck because no tutorial seems to show me what to do in the case of a total lock off shot and object tracking is the entire goal.
@trackvfx67602 ай бұрын
Fair point. I haven't seen this shown as well I think. Don't think I've even done it. Well. At least not with that being the goal. I've streamed lock offs before. Not sure which. I'm bogged down with life stuff these days. This might be a quick easy tutorial I could do. We'll see if I can do something on that. You just align a camera however you feel, and turn off its solving. And just track/solve an object. But finding depth and distortion can be slightly different in technique. But it's mostly the same. I'll see if I can do something with this.

I did the y axis up and followed your example but my grid showed up vertically haha. What did I do? Is there some maya xyz setting you all use with syntheyes i should turn on or something? Or maybe I just did it wrong.... I'll try again.
@trackvfx67602 ай бұрын
In Syntheye's Scene settings (Edit > Scene settings), you have to tell syntheyes what orientation you want to use. I Use Y-up. Sounds like you've got Z-up which is fine if you want that. You'll just have to change the lines to match how you'd imagine your scene to align in a program like Max, UE5, or Blender. Some exporters in Syntheyes can change this for you with an option toggle. I know that wasn't a very good explanation ha. Y-up is typically the most common.

Were all the tracks in this example placed manually? Is it okay to run auto tracker first and then add trackers?
@trackvfx67602 ай бұрын
Yup. That's perfect. Just make sure you monitor the quality of the autos and use Tracker Clean-up. (Shift C).

Hey, thanks for these great tutorials, I learned syntheyes in a day or two, but I wish you have a solution for a problem I have, I know you a Maya guy but maybe you know how to export/import lens distortion data from SY to Blender, so i can use it right inside of blender compositing tab, and not to do that in Nuke or something

hey, I have a question. Lets say you have already completed your solve and undistorted the footage. After hopping into your 3D software you notice you need to track and solve additional trackers that will help you where to place geometry. How do you later add additional trackers and solve them without ruining your entire optimized solve ?
