Don't feel too bad. That wasn't an omen. They wrote that into the story intentionally. It was how Michael and his family coped with the unfortunate circumstance. In the end, it was what he wanted and he loved every second of it.

This is just me but i never liked that they had QT be the "dying" one. I know he had major health issues and that was just never funny to me especially because he died. Idk its been years but that's just something that always bothered me.

It wasn't at his expense nor was it malocious. Michael and his family used comedy to cope with the reality of the situation. It was completely mutual. Even when Michael's conditiom was getting really bad later during filming, they thought about writing him out, him and his family protested saying that doing the show was everything to him so they kept him till he passed. Its bittersweet but it was all love.
