In the comics Homelander encounters just 1 person as strong or stronger than him. And immediately gets killed by them because yeah he is not a fighter, he is a super powered bully who never had a challenge thrown his way that was even remotely a real fight. Even the next strongest of the 7 was leagues below him in full strength and he easily killed that one. The only reason Omniman is still alive is that he has fought and killed dozens if not hundreds of other Viltrumites who had the same powers as he did meaning he got to keep living by being the best out of those fighters. He had to actually learn to fight to stay alive.
