2H to 12ht conversion 60 series Landcruiser HJ FJ60

Hi Shane, got my swap done, had to swap cabins as petrol and diesel motors have different engine mounts. @ 2:22 those 2 modules are for the red and green boost lights on the turbo tacho, I just ran 2 wires to those and a 3rd behind dash for power (same colours) and tubing to the boost side of inlet. That computer in kick panel is for the glow heater(12ht) or glow plugs (2h). The ignition wire that went to the coil went to the shut off vsv. Changed the tacho wire from dizzy to the sensor on bell housing, works great. Had to wire in a start relay as key wouldn't flow enough current. Took the car from Gippsland to Cape york without issues 👍 OTT done. Gotta ret another roadworthy cause it's different chassis.

Hey mate, the 2 thugs on the drivers fender that you weren't sure what they are for are the switch mechanism for the boost on and boost warning lights on the bottom of the12ht tacho. The switches have boost pressure lines running to them normally. Great vid and awesome build.

I have an fJ 45 with the 2H turbo diesel The problem with the 12ht engine the heads crack and to get another head i was told by Landcruiser is $2000 for a secondhand one i also see someone on Facebook wanting a 12ht head and will pay good money so might be a common problem

Gday im changing my 2h to a 12ht. In a hj75. Just looking at it the 12ht is a linkage throttle mine is cable. So there is nothing to hold the cable

Should i put a custom Turbo on my 2h or should i buy a 12ht and swap Engine? Should be simple for me and not so expensive.

The only thing we got in the US was gas. My is being converted to 1HZ diesel now and the stock exhaust runs down the left side (drivers US Spec) it seems the diesel runs down the right sight (down under drivers) so not sure what stock is for that side, inside or outside frame???

+my67nova thats right yes, it runs down the left side (drivers US spec) inside the chassis on this one also then crosses to the outside after the rear diff. i have seen them put 1HZ into these and the do come out the other side, but I'm not sure where they cross over, there would be problems with the transfer case, fuel lines and the fuel tank filler. ill keep looking for you and see what i can find. if you ask the question on the 60 series Facebook page someone there might be able to help also

Nice build Shane! I have a automatic hj60 with a 2h motor. I know a 12ht will bolt right in but not sure about the bell housing size to a automatic 4 speed. Was wondering what transmission you have in the 60.

Alex wedge it will bolt straight up to it mate. Mine is an automatic also from a 2H

+my67nova no i don't but i can do one for you no problem, it just takes the standard route. the dump pipe is custom made from the exhaust shop and the opening is a lot bigger than standard

Hey Shane Thanks for the video that rig is awesome. I learned to drive on a 82 BJ60 here in Canada when i was 15 years old (3b engine) 4 banger non Turbo.. A real work horse but man i've road camels faster than that thing. Question for you i'm looking at a very very clean 2H 89 60 in Australia right now with 300,000km on it for purchase for some exploring around Australia, This 60 does not a mark on it, has a small lift, ARB lockers and a snorkel. Just looking for your thoughts. Would you personally find one for sale with a 12HT already in it with a few more bumps and bruises and most likely higher KM's for more money or go with the 2H and a very clean machine and possibly swap it out down the road ? Im not up to speed on my Aussie power plants as much but would really would like a 12HT if i could find one...but i do know the value of a straight clean and rust free 60. Just looking for a few pointers and thoughts cheers.

No it’s a different motor. Same block different internals and factory turbo
