Thanks again. The never ending project vehicle! Lol.

Bloody ripper mate! I'm just leaning towards embarking on this myself but just pistons, thanks for the confidence and great to see it all worked well for you!

Thanks. The 3” open exhaust gives it a nice growl.

love it , where is the 2H you removed from that vehicle💁♀💁♀

Thanks, the engine has broken in nicely and makes good power! The old 2H had a broken ring land in cyl 6. I sold it "as is" to a local cruiser guy who was going to rebuild it and swap out his tried 2H that has the same issue. A lot 2H's have this issue. Cheers.

@MikeFreda Nice video! I'm thinking of getting a Land Cruiser with one of these but the 12H-T is rarer where I am. I'm afraid if I get it I won't be able to find parts for it.... Thoughts?

Thanks for commenting. To be honest, I have a love/hate relationship with my Landcruiser. It's been a lot of work and money to get it to what you see today. When I'm driving and showing it, it makes me happy, however, in the back of my mind I'm always wondering "what is next to go or need work" 12HT's are becoming long-in-the-tooth and most you will find are typically neglected and will need work. If you are not handy it will be tough to find a shop that will do it for you and if you do, they will charge you a lot. You can find parts for them but they can be costly and you will have to pay a lot for shipping. I was fortunate to have a good community of Land Cruiser people near me and I'm able to do all of my own work. If you are not handy and have limited funds, I'd probably stay away. When it comes to selling mine, I'd be glad to get some of my money back out of it! lol Cheers.

@@MikeFreda Oh thanks for the quick reply! I've always been interested in car but not really mechanically inclined. Getting a 60 or 70 series in good condition was my idea of getting into cars by buying something reliable (hence Toyota) and then learn on it by maintaining and upgrading it. Has your 12H-T given you any trouble after you installed it? Have the usually oil changes been enough to keep it happy?

Well, Toyota’s are known for their reliability but any car with higher mileage will need work. My 12HT has been awesome since the rebuild. No issues at all BUT I didn’t rebuild the turbo or the injection pump. Hopefully, they will last. My transmission is getting a bit loud so I may need to rebuild that soon as well. Other than that, everything else on it has been dealt with. Cheers.

Any closer to getting the rebuild video completed? Cheers :D

I’m working on it. A lot of info and I’m not sure how relevant it is since most people may just send it to a shop to do for them.

I’d be interested!

Hi Mike, did that rebuild video air? I'm also running a stock HJ61. Love it so far but i wonder what it takes to rebuild these engines when the time comes. I am pretty handy but i have never done an engine rebuild.

Hello! great video. Are these headlights or..? !
@MikeFreda3 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for your comment. I got them on Amazon : "Putco 12016 Luminix High Power LED Headlight". As much as I like them, they do cost a lot of money. I think you could get the equivalent output for less cost if you went with a higher power premium H4 bulb (like Osram) and with good quality auxiliary LED driving lights.

Did you get the turbo serviced or polished? I gotta do that to my old girl, but she's done an intake valve so that's a priority 😔
@MikeFreda2 жыл бұрын
No, the turbo was still in spec and looked good but I do plan to tackle that task for some preventative maintenance.

Man I hope I can 1 12ht for my hj45 do you have link ware can sort one I love those engine thanks for the video and thanks if respond

They are becoming scarce. Your best bet is to scour the internet and/people parting out HJ61’s. In North America a lot are Right hand drive and they do get into accidents. People buy them back to part out due to the value of the parts.

Would love to see this running on waste vegetable oil

Thanks for commenting. I have no plans for that. The 12HT already gets good mileage and the people I know who have that installed seem to have issues now and again. I like to keep things simple especially for off roading. Cheers.
