@user-pk8uf3er7v3 ай бұрын
@@braedenjuan8827bro. CX RACING sells an engine and transmission mounting kit for the 95-04 Tacoma’s. Believe it or not but you can fit a 2jz into the Tacoma with out cutting anything. It will end up being close to the radiator but it fits. If yours is the v6 Tacoma you can even use your original transmission as long as it’s the manual. you get the bell housing from a r154 transmission and boom your good to go.

if you think about it, this build while not complete, was sold by the builder, so something made him fall out of love with it... That's why I tell people to be careful and take your time, we see too many builds that were someone's dream at some point, become someone else's nightmare.
@2jzTacoofficial-wb6rq10 ай бұрын
It ain’t that I fell out of love with it. I built that from the ground up. I turned a lot of bolts on that thing. Lots of time with my hands. The only thing I have done elsewhere was the motor built and the tuning. Besides the few little minor problems. That thing is solid. I have been off road it really sketchy trails and I have been 135 mph in it. It was boosting 19 psi when it left here.

I feel like people were swapping 2jz's before the LS got popular, but that could be because I was more from a import and European background, so it was more common.

Excellent video. Nice engine swap. This project goes to show how much work goes into a custom project like this. .. There's so much minor custom work like brackets, cable, pipe routing, clutch, brakes that sometime get overlooked or bodged. .. Yeah that clutch, noisy fuel regulator & oil leaks would be a major annoyance for a relative daily. .. From FMUs perspective. I can see how difficult it is to price a job like this as ya don't know what hurdels you'll meet along the way... I do wonder, if that turbo is spoiling so late perhaps a smaller turbo might better suit thids installation...? .. Im also wondering if the clutch lever arm is the wrong ratio hemce the extra travel.. Great work guys...

A buddy of mine at work had a Tacoma that fell into the frame warranty. It had 275,000 miles on it, was a work truck from day one, pretty beat but taken care of at the same time. The frame was close to cracking in half and they gave him cash. Like. It was junk, he was trying to figure out how to deal with selling or trading in….Got a letter in the mail with the warranty explanation and an offer..worked out great for him😂😂

When you were out on the road with that 2JZ swap, it still sounded like a 4 cylinder. Was it worth the efford? Not sure yet. But I'd never sacrifice an AC. That moist that builds up on the inside of the cab's windows I have a terrible rememberance on. Passengers have to wipe them the entire ride or the driver gets nuts.
@scooterprint9 ай бұрын
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing! I have a 1996 Single Cab Tacoma that I'm in the middle of a 2JZ-GE single turbo w/ R155 swap. What radiator and fans did the guy use? was the firewall tubbed to make room for the cooling system?
@FluidMotorUnion9 ай бұрын
fans appear to be universal through the core mount radiator fans, and no mods to the firewall as far as we could tell. I think that need is going to be dictated by your engine and trans mounting positioning. Do you have that sorted yet?
@mikepao61099 ай бұрын
No fire wall mods necessary if you're using the CX racing engine mounts. You can still use the stock radiator that comes in the truck, although you may have to run a pusher type fan setup as there isn't enough room between the engine and the stock radiator location. If you can find fans thin enough, you can make a puller setup work.

We've messed with that diesel Benz engine a fair bit, but no odd swaps with it have really rolled through. Good torque and reliability to better suit a Toyota, well aside for that little frame rust mishap...

Engine swaps are cool when they stay within brand. Ls in a GM, 2j in a Toyota, coyote in a ford etc etc etc. I’ll get roasted for this opinion. Unfortunately you can’t say worse than my wife does.

The Saab 9-5 is front wheel drive. The Navigator is rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. Doable if you're into lots of welding and custom fab work, including a drive train tunnel and rear suspension. Good luck!

@@houseofno small correction, in that the 2011 9-5 also had an AWD option (XWD was the branded name of it) but yeah it'd be psychotically difficult either way

This otherwise remarkable build is distracted by the annoying squeaking heard on the test drive. Kind of annoying that they spend this kind of money on a bespoke swap like this then neglect basic maintenance items like body mounts and worn springs causing that squeaking noise. Kind of makes you wonder what else they skipped doing besides the AC.
