My favourite room of the show too. I thought the stereo imaging was fantastic. I also loved the spendors classics which got me considering if I need to go to a large box speaker rather than a conventional tall floorstander.

The Audiolab 6000a was also in the Dali room, which also had a clear and spacious sound, I don't think it's a coincidence. I really want to get one now. But I already have a Cambridge CXA60, so they'd be competing for the spot in the living room!

@@mrpositronia I auditioned the Cambridge CXA60 and Audiolab 6000a at home with Monitor Audio rx6's. They're very, very close in sound. I kept the 6000a, but would have been happy with both. :) What happened with your system, if anything?

@@peeperization I didn't get the Audiolab in the end. I've actually decided to upgrade the Cambridge to a Hegel H90, possibly this year. I may trade the Cambridge in, but don't expect more than £250 for it now. I had an Audio quest Cobalt for a month, before the headphone socket stopped working. And it was better than the built in DAC in the CXA60, so I got the bug for better, unfortunately. 😅

I have been quite disappointed when I went to the hifi shop for a proper listening. We have paired the Lintons with the Leak130 amplifier and the Leak CD transport. The sound of the speakers was messy with undefined basses , too straight forward hight frequencies . Very good mediums . I did have very high expectations and really wanted to buy the Linton's . Unfortunately, the sound didn't match my final taste. I hope it helps ?!

@@SebTheFrenchGuy welp, we may have similar earholes. LOL I got them into my home and tested them for about two weeks and they fell short for me. I had an especially high expectancy for the midrange but they seemed a little thin. The bass was just ok for me but I needed the bottom to be a little thicker. Don't get me wrong, they look beautiful and classic but my ears are my truth. So I have to stick with my own ears in my own setting.

@@CoryBellDushoneBell I finally had the opportunity to listen to the Sonus Faber Lumina III floorstanding speakers . Almost the exact opposite of the lintons in term of design and identity. But the sound is awesome ! Cristal clear hight frequency ( maybe too directional), beautiful mediums ( very natural sounding female voices) and very good basses ( not very deep and punchy) but good. You should give them a try .

I really appreciate everything that you do to bring this stuff to us. You made me re think power cables after dismissing them. I have tried Thunder cables, Nrg 10 and Nrg 100s and a Niagara 100. After this experience I fell in loved them and they have taken my system up a level or two, why because of the elimination of noise that the cables and conditioner did. And I tried the cables independently of the conditioner in a Furhman conditioner before getting the Niagara. This stuff works and it is never covered from the perspective of noise reduction. Example take a good photo with good composition, but it was taken in low light, which created noise. Find a way to eliminate the noise and you now have a great picture, which is the same for Audio. Audio and Photography both use the term dynamic range and they mean almost the same thing in both, covering lowest to highest. My dealer just got those Kefs in or a form of them that you prominently display and use for your sound demos. I can’t wait to hear them, too bad for me because I bought a pair of Vandersteen Quatros, which I love, so no worries there.

This system sounded lovely on the Moroder vocal intro, but soon became disjointed when it got busy. At this level you generally find that a system will slant towards certain genres and, clearly, electronica isn’t the forte here. I bet it does a stand up job on acoustic, jazz and classical etc.

Probably a bit late, but based on the comparisons I've heard here on KZbin the Leak Stereo 230 is a great partner for the Lintons. This is in contrast to the Leak 130, which sounds thin and forward by comparison (doesn't seem to have enough power to drive the Lintons fully).

@@Andrealberelli_83 both have enough power to drive the Lintons well, so it'll likely be down to price, features and personal sound preferences. The 9000A is a class above the Leak 230 in price and performance from what I've seen and read, though I bought the Leak 230 myself and am very happy with its performance with my Lintons.

@@nasdkhan254 I use a 4 way open baffle system (Check them out below before you roll your eyes in disdain) They are diy. The best bookshelf speakers that I owned were Rogers LS3/5A’s. They were amazing for vocals and small ensemble acoustic. I missed the scale and presence in Jazz, rock and orchestral pieces. That inspired me to experiment with larger drivers and ultimately Open baffles. If you’re interested, here is a sample:kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3OTkJ6hl5KliNU Sorry if I came off like a jerk.

@@polkiju7 Hi . I looked at your system. Very interesting Yes , open baffle diy , I'm sure sounds very good indeed and virtually any conventional speaker on the market is going to sound small by comparison. I'm sure you know for most people your solution wouldn't be practical as it lacks the WAF factor and looks a bit like the sort of thing Doc would build in Back to the Future 🤣🤣. Joking aside I salute you for bothering and being an individual. I live in the UK and by American standards, have a small room. Many years ago I owned Spendor LS3/5A which sounded amazing but lacks balls and didn't work out on tough Rock music . I have tried since then , Monitor Audio Silver 6, B&W 703, Tangent Rs4 , Quad ESL 63 ( unfortunately were faulty ) IMF TSL50 ( now in my bedroom system) For fun and in this game little financial outlay Tannoy DC200 , Mordant Short Pageants. Anyway the Wharfedale will underwhelm a lot of audiophiles on first listen , however they are a subtle seducer and dare I say it almost hit the dream portals of your brain. After half & hour you are engrossed in the music . Thats why you'll find that people in the far East have gone nuts about these speakers and trust me a very decent affordable alternative to Harbeth SL5 & LS3/5A. All the best .

@@nasdkhan254 Well thank you for what is likely, the most thoughtful and reasoned reply I’ve ever received to what was admittedly, a pretty cheeky comment. My wife only tolerates those monstrosities because she’s seen me tear up listening to them. All my drivers are Wharfedales and the company has always been a bit of an underdog. G.A.Briggs never succumbed to flashy audio gimmicks or anything that sounded unnatural. I am impressed by horn systems for example (JBL Klipsche) but could never live with them long term. The plan was to make my open baffles “presentable” once I got the sound right, but I ran out of money! I will give the speakers you mentioned a listen should the opportunity, beyond KZbin, present itself. Thanks for taking the time to respond. J
