I drove through Nebraska two years ago from Cheyenne, Wyoming to York, NB. Then down US 81 down to Wichita, Kansas. I love the great plains. The people are super friendly.

The rolling hills of the plains are almost mesmerizing. I think of the illustrations of Lewis and Clark overlooking the endless plains. I'd love to go see the hilly grasslands of Nebraska. Especially when they're this green.

I love driving through the Great Plains when they are green. It really adds to the landscape in my opinion!

We drove the western part of Nebraska on our first drive out to Denver from Wisconsin. We ditched taking I-76 because we wanted to say we had been in Wyoming and we also could go see the state capitol as well. So we took 80 out to I-25 and drove south to Denver from Cheyenne. I am glad we did that drive because we got to see how beautiful the western part of Nebraska is.

Awesome, Kyle! This terrain was not as flat and boring as I expected. It definitely looks more like Wyoming than Iowa. This is the first musical drivelapse video I've ever watched to provide a good look at western Nebraska. I was hoping to see one someday but didn't expect to. Congratulations on beating Kaydrah Communications Wanderlust, FreewayJim, and TheHighwayMan to the punch! ShingleCreek has a video showing western Nebraska, but it's so fast that you cannot see much. Then again, there's not much to see. That video didn't go as far west, because it involved taking Interstate 76 to Colorado and stopping just past the border.

I did a video going the opposite direction a few years ago... It's not a vey good vid, though. Travelling westbound really captures the true experience of the panhandle. These days, we usually plow thru while it's still dark. 😂

Thank you so much for sharing this video Kyle! This brought back so many memories of driving the entire state of Nebraska multiple times east and westbound both on I-80! I have never been to Scottsbluff and would dearly like to travel out there some day! So I for one am definitely looking forward to watching the next 4 upcoming videos of driving up to Scottsbluff and I so want to see the monument out there one day! I always appreciate your videos! Thanks again Kyle! Definitely a big fan of all your video efforts! Mark in Iowa.

The one thing you might find odd for me to mention is that I noticed that almost all of the truck tractors are what I call a snub-nosed Freightliner, which I believe is the best and safest on our highways.

Surprisingly not as flat & dune as I through. It actually looks like an interesting drive. Can't wait to see your other videos in Western Nebraska. Hopefully in the future, you'll get a chance go to the Metro parts of the state like Lincoln & Omaha. Heck maybe drive out to Hastings, the birthplace of Kool Aid!

Even though this drive wasn't your first choice back then, I'm glad you had the chance, and that Scottsbluff Monument video will be fire! The Panhandle can indeed be boring, and yet suprise one in a number of ways. Grew up there and moved away, but I don't regret the time I spent there

Thanks for this video! I remember I-70 in parts of Kansas - you're right about FLAT. Of course... I could say the same thing about Florida! (GRIN!) I've wanted to go to Scott's Bluff - my dream is for Sue (my wife) and I to go to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and Craters of the Moon - but travel along part of the Oregon trail on the way and Scott's Bluff would be one of the stops I'd like to see (I'm looking forward to the videos).

Nice one again as usual. Not as flat as I thought Nebraska would be, but I guess that's further east. Btw, you were in Missile Country-some of the 90th Missile Wing's Minuteman fields are in that part of Nebraska.... Watch for AF trucks or Hummers with maintenance or Missile Site Security!

Did this drive in August of '22. Its hard to imagine a more barren and desolate place (that isnt desert or ice) than eastern Wyoming/western Nebraska.

Nebraska is almost one interstate State

Exactly! If it weren't for the brief segment of I-76 near the Colorado border, nor the auxiliary Interstates in the Omaha (I-680, I-480) and Lincoln (I-180) areas, it would be. If you don't want to count the auxiliary 3-digit Interstates, then that short section of I-76 is Nebraska's "saving grace" that keeps it from being an one Interstate state. It's crazy to think that Nebraska doesn't even have a through north-south Interstate. In the Omaha area, the main north-south Interstate, I-29, stays on the Iowa side of the Missouri River.

1:23 That segment needs new pavement... + an interchange without a destination sign is a crime against the MUTCD 6:05 Considering how Kansas is known to be flat, it's not really difficult. :P

Umm,, 2:37: I can think of only one state (Delaware) that might have numerically *fewer* 2dI interstates than Nebraska, so maybe this isn't much of a flex. ;)
@InterstateKyle
@InterstateKyle Жыл бұрын
The Dakotas have 2 each. I-29 (both) and I-90 and I-94 respectively. Nebraska has three. I-80, I-29 and I-76. Delaware besides Alaska and Hawaii has the least at one so you are correct sir.
@mark99k
@mark99k Жыл бұрын
@@InterstateKyle Actually I-29 doesn't enter Nebraska, just hugs the opposite shore of the river. So the state has only 80 and the tiny end of 76.
