My mother passed away in 2021. I knew she had always been an admirer of Schubert's Ave Maria. I decided not to play that at the gathering before her farewell, because I thought, well, that would be asking too much of myself. So I decided to play Bruckner's "version". That was a good decision. I always imagine her temperament and Bruckner's to be a good match.

Schubert was no spiritual guy. the artificial song was his oeuvre.("Serenade", "Auf dem Wasser zu singen") and descriptor of nature ("Gesang der Geister über den Wassern")
