I used to know how to do that stitching, I was taught back in the day when I was in 4H. The material used is a flat leather lace. And its very well stitched. It is called an "Over Molded" full tang, like Buck knives uses on the 100 series of sheath knives. I suspect the lanyard hole goes through the tang. If you want to be sure, get a high powered magnet and check it out.

Not something I'd go for myself - I'm more budget than that! It is stunningly beautiful though, and I think the fact it doesn't have a 90 degree spine shows good finish an comfort if you choke up which is likely as it's such a big blade. Most ferro rods come with a scraper anyway, and I start fires with a lighter, but take a ferro rod as a back up.
@2ndchancegeorge Жыл бұрын
I am with you there. I would not normally spend that money on a knife. My usual limit is 1/2 that. I use the b1 normally. And yes...lighter first then Ferro rod. Thanks for watching. Be safe out there

I’m hooked on bps knives now. My woodlore arrived yesterday. I even did a vid on it if your interested. That’s a lovely looking blade. I’m not sure If I’d get one. I think it should be full tang being a heavy knife and all.
@2ndchancegeorge2 жыл бұрын
Love them great knives.I will check the vid out thanks
@alphadawg81 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about the rat tang. All of my Scandinavian knives have rat tangs and they take whatever task I throw at them....even batoning. Although they are normally made from 80CrV2.
@2ndchancegeorge Жыл бұрын
Yes I agree. I dontbabyse my knives so the chance of breaking the tang us slim.

I have 2 BPS knives. Excellent! They do have a 90° spine which I really like. Maybe you could use a strong magnet to check how far the tang goes. Great review!

I feel you must have been really loving your new knife. And I also want to have that knife but have a question and concern about the Tang. It's not a full tang but a rat tail tang, so does it have any pros and cons for that tang type? i think the blade is very thick and heavy, so rat tail will be good enough, but I wonder it should be full tang for the more strongness or not? Do you have any opinion on that?
@2ndchancegeorge2 жыл бұрын
I prefere full tang. It's just stronger. But I don't think it's a rats tail, but maybe a 1/2 Tang. I think it will be just fine. Thankyou for watching

i almost boght it, but then realized it was 6mm thick with a partial tang in D2.. these bps partial tangs have a bad reputation of breaking at the handle ( i have 12 of thier full tangs, but the only one that broke was the rat tail carbon blade that is very similar to that) i just dont really think a relatively brittle steel like d2 is a good match for a 6mm blade that people are going to think is strong enough to thwack on and pry ... its a very contradictive blade
@2ndchancegeorge2 жыл бұрын
I agree. But to be honest I cannot see me using it for buttoning etc. For me it's just a thing of Beauty. The non full tang is an issue I am well aware of. But hey, it's pretty cool looking you gotta admit. Lol.....thanks for watching. And of course the very true comment.

@rtoguidver3651 Жыл бұрын
That's not hand forged, it's hand faked. It's not a full tang, it's D2 steel which is OK, but not a good High Carbon steel.. It cost $102.80 and only has $10 worth of steel & $5 worth of leather, & $5 worth of wood. Get a 1095 High Carbon steel or s30v and make your own for a third of the price and twice the quality...
