Hey George. The colonel single blade jack may have come from the factory that way, it does bear a strong resemblance to a florist knife, but even if it was reprofiled it still is a great whittler and a piece of the history of that knife. Just make it sharp and shiny and whittle on a stick and enjoy it. Just my 2 cents brother. 😊❤

how do you like your modded opinel so far? I really dig the the short blade. Seems like it can handle much more force for using it as a utilitarian knife.

George, have you ever come across a folding knife that includes a button hook for second implement?
@2ndchancegeorge22 сағат бұрын
Nit sure what a button hook is ?. Lol..let me know. Thanks
@2ndchancegeorge22 сағат бұрын
No I have not. I believe Ulster knives had one but haven't found one my self.
@cloudalien4435 сағат бұрын
@@2ndchancegeorge I've been scouring online but there seems to be nothing on KZbin. There's a fair bit on button hooks (and how they were used to button up button boots) but the only references to a combined hook/blade folder is from expensive antiques dealerships. I think I'm going to start going to as many flea markets as I can until I find one.
@2ndchancegeorge4 сағат бұрын
@cloudalien443 yep. Not very common. I'll keep an eye out. Be safe
@doobydootoo23 сағат бұрын
Great video. I've got a couple higonokami. One has no stamp and I cant see the folded steel in the blade. The other I bought from Australia and delivered to Scotland. Titanium handle and the blade has makers mark but is coated in black over the whole blade right down so can't see if it is folded steel
@2ndchancegeorge23 сағат бұрын
Yep lovebem. Nice and simple. It will wear and show the fold eventually. Be safe out there and appreciate your support
@doobydootoo23 сағат бұрын
@2ndchancegeorge actually I've had a better look. The knife with the black coating. You can still see the fold between the 2 steels even under the coating. I want to get it on a stone but not sure how to go about it. I'm thinking the stone is going to take a lot of the coating off and it's intended to be there. But it might still look good. Thanks for your reply. I'm going to subscribe
@2ndchancegeorge22 сағат бұрын
@doobydootoo thankyou. My advice is if you going to take it off, then use VERY fine sandpaper...tallest 1000 grit. The coating is to stop rust. The outer folded metal probably carbon steel with the inner stainless. The Carbon with giveth blade some flex and protect the stainless which is more brittle but Hols a better edge. Appreciate the support.

Hi George, thanks for a great video! I found some further info for you, "Therefore a Klein knife with a tang stamp letter "A" date code =1989. We are currently at the letter "Y" =2012. " Your knife with the 'F' is from 1994 All the best from RSA Justin

Great video George! Hey what a coincidence... I have two of those Camillus knives with the shrinking scales. I was wondering if you have any info on the span of years they were made since they don't have any lines on them and I can't find any info online. Tried asking in the comments of Kevin's page but no replies. All good if you don't know. Plenty to still learn. Take care and say hey to Merry! Cheers, -Dave from Eureka

That double H stamp, perhaps is a factory mis-stamp, perhaps it was stamped twice by mistake, those things do happen and was meant to be a single letter H???
@2ndchancegeorge23 сағат бұрын
I looked them up. They never did two letters and said it was probably from out sourcing they did back then and the company just put the HH. on for thier making time
