I have that exact reel. Used it for years saltwater fishing in Southern California. All way from 1 pound seabass to 20ish pound mahi mahi,yellowtail, bonito, barracudas, and little yellowfin tuna. I've never been dumb enough to target any bigger tuna or gamefish with it but know other people that have. It can handle it but why torture yourself. That being said I love using the 400 size big brother in a lower gear ratio for throwing metal jigs at potentially bigger fish.

I like the Diawa Reels , New and old . I just got in about 20 early Reels today , I bought off Ebay and a guy. Unfortunately I think 5 of the best ones have problems . Just a heads-up Dennis .

I believe they are graphite.

The HD series is full aluminum body and side plate. Along with stainless steel pinion and main gear .

At least not this one! I just worked on a Daiwa Blast. The inside was 80% plastic. Let's see how that one holds up! - Dennis
