Thanks Dennis. What a nice condition reel! Like my charter business 50H's, I sure wish the main gear was just a bit bigger for higher gear ratio. Takes forever to reel in line. I replaced with Carbontex, saw no change in actual drag amount, but I know the washers themselves are now longer lasting. Is this reel as robust as the 50H? Some of my clients can't seem to manage to level the line manually. Thanks!

This is basically a 50H with the level wind feature. It is robust and should stand up to customers that need that assist. Unfortunately these are older reels, like your 50H and they are getting harder to find. You are right on the Carbontex. it will not increase max drag as that is a function of surface area. The advantage is that they are more wear resistant. Dennis

Hi Dennis, I have several customer Diawa Sealine reels that I am servicing. They are the model 47H and non-level wind 50H models. One of the 50H reels totally ate up the Anti-reverse Claw Spring Part # 6-145-2801. In fact I found it totally wound up and mangeled into the gearing. Needless to say, that I need a new replacement spring. Both of the reels - 47H and the 50H - use the same exact spring. After searching the internet trying to find a replacement spring and coming up empty. I contacted Daiwa directly here in CA and was informed that this spring has not been available to purchase since 2016 and they do not have any alternate solution/s. Do you have any suggestions on how to obtain a replacement spring ? The reel is in fantastic shape and cleaned-up and serviced great. Thank you for your help, Fred

A Daiwa Sealine SL175H is coming up for auction, looks in rough shape. Are they good reels, any idea what to bit.

The 175 series are nice, but condition is everything and parts are getting harder to find, so make sure the rough shape is just cosmetic and don't over pay for the reel - Thanks for asking - Dennis
