Very informative, thank you! Your video saved a Centron 3000 from going directly to the trash can :)

Thank you for this was having some trouble after oiling and this solved the problem. I like kastking I think they are are decent value for the blue collar fisherman. Personally I dont need the Ferrari rod and reel to catch fish and have a great time. Thanks again!

I am not the biggest fan of Kastking fishing reels. All together, I have purchased two of the Summer 2000 reels, a Spartacus Plus Baitcaster, a Sharky 3 1000, and lastly a Kodiak 1000. I'll take an entry level Penn Pursuit or entry level Shimano Sienna over those Kastking reels all day. Some people do like them though. I will say that I needed a few replacement parts for the Kastking reels and I emailed their customer service email box. I rec'd an immediate reply and they shipped me the part within 24 hours free of charge. Good customer service in that regard.

Thanks for the additional information. These seem like solid and dependable reels and your experience with customer service is helpful to know. I think the Penn Reels have got a little pricey compared to this series - Dennis

I can't leave comment on the video of screw holder, so I hope it is ok to do it here. I have been using those as well as the one for Philips head screw for years working on cars. I would have sent you some, but they are for bigger screws than the ones used on fishing reels. Too bad. So far a bit of grease on the tip of the driver (Philips or straight) is the easiest way. One thing I have not tried with reel screws is the way I install spark plugs on (especially aluminum) cylinder heads. Inserting the end of the plug into a short piece of rubber tubing. The tubing will not allow the screw go on cross threaded. Once the screw is in, then it could be tightening with a driver. I will experiment with and report. All the best.

That tubing idea is a good one. I will try it as well. Thank you - Dennis

I can’t help but wonder if parts are available for Kastking reels or are they considered disposable? I have heard so many speak of these reels with complete derision. I would think that these reels would good because of the price point enabling some to get a reel with these capabilities within reach. I honestly like the ball bearings on the line roller. I hope you will do an entire take apart service and reassembly of one of these reels. I’d like to know more about it and maybe make my own decision about them. I didn’t see any bearings on the spool. Good tutorial on this kind of bail mechanism. I just filled a spot on my my ultimate fishing reel bucket list a moment ago and I do mean ultimate. I have two Daiwa 8600 3 bb reels that I rank as one of the greatest reels Daiwa has ever made. It is a worm gear reel just like a Peen 704 or 704Z or some of the Shakespeares. I had long known that this reel I existed but had only seen one. I just got (drum roll please) a Daiwa 8700 in excellent condition. It is the largest in the series. It cost me and I know it will cost me even more when my wife finds out. I think I wanted this one more than even a 9000C which I have thanks to you. I’ll send you some photos. I am so excited with this one because they are so rare and such excellent fishing reels!!! Within the parameters of my vintage collection this is one of the best. ---Chris

Do you have a video about a daiwa PR733? I spent like an hour trying to piece it back together and I’m so frustrated.

Hey Dennis ,I have a smaller Kast-King spinning reel I got in a box lot at the flea market. I was impressed with how smooth it cranked, and how light it was ,it had mono tangled under the rotor ,and after I did a Dennis on it , it worked great, I've used it for 3 seasons, and outside of rinsing it off after a saltwater trip, continues to do the job. did anyone notice in your video the knurled spool on the 6000 to keep the braided line from slipping and sliding?
@2ndChanceTackle2 жыл бұрын
It does have that feature. I made another video to review this reel and I mention the spool feature there. It will be posted in the coming days - Thanks - Dennis

I think the achilles heel of these and other contract reels are parts availability and longevity. Be a shame to throw away a 60 dollar reel for example because you couldnt get a 5 dollar part. I have a couple of Bass Pro shop reels that follow this principle. No spare parts available.
@2ndChanceTackle2 жыл бұрын
That is the problem. You have hit the nail right on the head. I guess manufacturer's figure that the cost of service is high and that the cost of parts, service and shipping can exceed the value of a new reel, so they don't support replacement parts. Quantum and Zebco are that way. Very limited parts support for new reels.
