I used to think Pac was a complete hothead for no reason, but then realizing that he was still suffering from severe PTSD from getting shot 5 times and then going to prison shortly after. That type of shit would definitely fuck up anyone's mental health completely. I like PAC, but always felt he was the poster child in a perfect storm. NWA birthed Westcoast gangster rap and showed the rest of the world what was really going on in L.A. in a time where the rest of the world thought L.A. was just Hollywood and movies, while rap had always been discovered and dominated by NY. After NWA broke up, Dre hooked up with Suge and started Deathrow. With Dre's name on it, Deathrow didn't have to prove anything... it was Dre, so we were all ears and ready for whatever Dre was dropping! He dropped that "Deep Cover" and Chronic, introduced the world to Snoop, dropped "DoggyStyle"...it was over! Deathrow and gangster rap became mainstream. Give Suge credit for doing what he did for PAC and signing him, but that combined with a label that was actually out doing the Mecca of hip hop,, NY when that was pretty much unheard-of. Not saying that PAC didn't do his thing when he got there, but that was definitely the perfect storm for PAC.
