Come April 5, 2024, I will be 92 yrs old; and 85 yrs ago my dad and I sat up to hear the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. On 650 AM radio. We heard Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb and many others. Thus it brought tears of nostalgia now; when I hear these old recordings that I dearly loved. May Jesus rests the Precious souls; of all of the "Country Singers".

In 1985 I heard Ernest Tubb for the first time with his song I wonder Why you said goodbye, and it was something impressive. His voice, the background music, was the best. I had already heard Hank Williams Sr., but Ernest Tubb, he was something different, a definition, a very definite background music, something special. In my personal preference, Ernest Tubb, is something that comes from older times than Hank Williams. Ernest Tubb, it's something special, and it's a good thing that his style is still in force.

I met Ernest in person near the end of his life at a nightclub near Carlyle, Illinois in 1982...It was freezing cold outside, he was more than 80 years old-in poor health and very tired; but persevered thru the show he did with his band...I was VERY impressed with his spirit and still am! Ernest Tubb was a REAL STAR...Outstanding!

Love Earnest- grew up listening to home in the late 50’s. Grew up on a farm and my dad always played Country as the milk cows gave more milk when he played country music!

Thank God for KZbin,I was in ET's record shop a few weeks ago, hoping to find loads of stuff I wouldn't find anywhere else, but regretfully, the racks were just full of everybody's greatest hits. Still,I've got my memories of seeing Charley Pride sing All I Have To Offer You Is Me,on the shop's stage in 1969...and many more!
