Also, for viewers on your channel would also benefit from real people that lives and breathes(depending what your theme/topic will be - as alot of KZbin videos have already covered). To support the country you're visiting positively, to introduce the country you're visiting I.e..Hong Kong - do accustom yourselves with history, yet, be different to your taste buds to avoid your own experiences. As your taste buds are could influence what you share (be mindful)

The noodle dish @ 13:41 is an uber popular Cantonese dish - Gnorn Chow Gnau Hor. It is flat rice noodles (yours with beef} stir fried with extremely high heat in a wok, to give you that signature smokey Cantonese flavor - wok hei = wok taste/breath. You had that dish in Malaysia because Cantonese immigrants took it to Malaysia, many yrs ago.

The best cafes, and their baristas, are like artists. They are meticulous about how they roast different coffee beans, control the temperature, brew, and more. This is how they bring out the best flavors in the carefully selected beans. Now, imagine going to a 3-star Michelin restaurant and adding chili oil to the dish simply because you like it spicy. What kind of reaction would you expect from the chef? If you enjoy sweeter coffee, you might feel more at home at a place like Starbucks. This type of cafe is all about highlighting the natural flavors of the coffee beans in their purest form.
@blarghmcblarghson190318 күн бұрын
Reminds me of an old British comedy called "Chef!", in one episode the chef becomes absolutely irate when a customer asks for some salt, storms out to rant at the customer about how carefully crafted each dish is, and at the end the customer's companion goes "do you have any mustard?" That said, that particular coffee shop's selection of cakes and other sweets are probably chosen to compliment their coffee, letting customers add sugar to the coffee defeats that purpose.

Back in the late 70s when I was very young, we lived in Hong Kong for two years. It was such an experience with many fond memories. Hong Kong was very different back then compared to today. Even now, some 45 years after we left, I still have conversations with my folks remembering our experiences there and after all those years, I still remember what our home telephone number was in Cantonese!
@DelroyJackson-s2jАй бұрын
what are 5 things that are different ?
@SeanHendyАй бұрын
@@DelroyJackson-s2j ok so here goes: 1) the fish man - we lived in a 4 or 5 story apartment block in Kowloon and once or twice a week, the fish man would come to the door, and if we wanted fish, would fillet it on the doorstep. I doubt such practices continue. 2) Easy one, back then it was still under British governance, and that ended in '97. 3) When we were there, Ocean Park had a killer whale. Long before we became more aware of ecological issues, but back then, in the late 70s, seeing that was an experience. 4) What we used to call 'stinky's market' on Kowloon, included lots of street vendors cooking food in the open. Since the handover, I'm aware that all of those have been shut down. It was definitely part of Hong Kong and you'll only see it now in old films of that time. 5) In the late 70's there were the Vietnamese boat people. Essentially refugees from the aftermath of the Vietnam war. Hong Kong was one of the destinations for those seeking a better life. And on the same subject, people from mainland China, being stopped from trying to enter Hong Kong through the New Territories.

A suggestion from my experience of a visit to The Peak. From Central, take bus 15 or X15 from Exchange Square (MTR Central Station Exit A / MTR Hong Kong Station Exit B1) to the terminus at Peak Galleria. You will thank me. Just make sure you sit on the top deck and by all means make sure you sit on the right-hand side going up (and left-hand side coming down). You will be richly rewarded by the expansive panorama's opening up as breaks appear in the hill side vegetation and buildings. And like-wise you will be rewarded by the much longer trip than on the funicular (tram) - it is a prolonged pleasure. Or if you are so inclined do both one up and one down - but whatever you do, do not forego the bus trip. For a few HK dollars it is not just a bargain, it pays big dividends as an experience - one locals take for granted and most visitors do not know about.

Welcome to Hong Kong! Quite enjoyable to see that you’re enjoying my city! There’s a reason why the buses here aren’t fully electric yet, it’s because currently it’s still hard to find buses that can have the performance to climb the steep mountains of the routes here and maintain enough charge to transport people for one full day. There’s have been many trials of electric buses but never deployed on a large scale. The hawkers have been asked to move indoors years back because it was creating a hygiene problem on the streets where rats infestations happened because of cooking and lack of proper drainage; so the government back then decided to group the hawkers together and move them into proper infrastructure. Hope you have a great time here! 🇭🇰

Cantonese is a dialect (or language, it seems to be defined as a language by the United Nations, but I personally think it's more like one of the local dialects for the various regions of mainland China) spoken mainly in Guangdong and Guangxi provinces, and geographically Hong Kong and Macau used to belong to the Guangdong region, so they also speak Cantonese. There are different dialects spoken in different parts of mainland China, not necessarily all of them are standardized Mandarin.

A note to add to the sugar thing: in HOng Kong we don't usually add ground sugar to latte (or any kind of coffee/espresso with milk or milk foam inside), but there are loads of flavoured latte like hazelnut, vanilla, chai tea, matcha etc etc........ Actually, the best view of the harbour is on a weekday just before sundown. Especially as you get into autumn or late summer, the golden shimmer as the sun comes down and getting reflected against the glass of the buildings and skyline of the Central business district is amazing. I would even give the Symphony of Lights a pass (it's nothing once you've seen those in Shanghai and the other major cities in China) just to be by the Tsim Sha Tsui ferry pier area an hour earlier to catch that spectacular moment of sunset and looking over the harbour back onto the Central business district. Why on a weekday specifically? Well, at sundown, the office lights in the skyscrapers in Central are still on - HK people work VERY late - and that just adds to the drama of sunlight, neon lights and office lights as the sun goes down.

appreciate u really try some local foods , yet i believe the taste and texture is not similar to friends from the west! yes, hk is very populated and the rhythm is fast and u picked a restaurent that got a nickname “light speed meal” they ask u in light speed, u have to reply in light speed, they serve in light speed and u have to finish it in light speed lol

Some people prefer to have no sugar in their coffees.. but shops do provide one if you would ask.

Never lived there, but we used to visit friends who did during the late 80's and all through the 90's. I remember fondly the long run of escalators up to Seaworld, and the cable car down to a beautiful beach at the side. Stanley Market with the duck boards to walk on so you didn't get wet feet? I bought a pair of Levi's there and they were a bit long. So they took them up for me while I waited!!! Fond memories of Victoria Peak before it became what it is now. And of course, landing at Kai Tak airport!!! Happy times!! 💝💕❤❤

Wow that sounds like such a cool time to visit! So many people have said that Hong Kong was THE place in the 90s, we wish we could have seen it then - because even now you can feel the charm of this city!

There are three banks issuing Hongkong Dollar above 10: HSBC, Standard Chartered and Bank of China (Hong Kong) they all have unique design. 😮 Btw when I visited HK in July from mainland I decided to randomly drop in a local tea canteen in Kennedy Town, it's not so crowded and bad tempered as those "famous" restaurants while the portion of the food there is larger and the price is lower, I enjoyed my brunch there, so relaxing, I also met some very nice people it's just kinda good experience.❤

Oh yes they look so cool! You're right, the vibe is just so nice and the food is lovely!

You mention the number of Diesel buses in Hong Kong - most of the buses are made in the UK (a lot in Falkirk in Scotland) and they are used for 3-4 years before being shipped back to the UK to be used there as very few countries outside the UK have double deckers. Electric buses are possible in Hong Kong, but the heat in the Summer tends to set them on fire.. so we are moving towards Hydrogen buses made in China. (a bit like a bomb on wheels, but less pollution).
