@ladyevil644 жыл бұрын
@Nickhead87 Oh...so NO!!!!!! NOT! Native Americans got labeled Indians, because European explorers were trying to find an easier passage to India, and thought they had found it when they reached the Western Hemisphere. They eventually realized that they were not, in fact, in India, but had reached a "New World", but the term Indians stuck. This is third/fourth grade history, and shouldn't be confused with new genetic discoveries that Native Americans are distantly related to Asians, as are Polynesians.

I've seen Anthrax live once, in 2010 Sonisphere festival here in Finland. At one point in their set they paid homage to RJD who had passed away earlier that year by playing a bit from Heaven and Hell. And some time after that there was a tremendous rainstorm that hit the city. The festival area had a huge inflatable beer can where the serving area was. After the storm had passed, the can was nowhere to be found. 3 people were badly injured during the storm and one of them sadly succumbed to his injuries later that day. And I will forever remember the finnish thrash band who played between Slayer and Anthrax. Band is called Mokoma and their lead singer Marko Annala said that playing between those two greats feels the same as a kid when you tucked between your mom and dad. :D That two day festival experience was really memorable, in many ways, good and bad. I have some suggestions aswell; Megadeth - Dread and the Fugitive Mind Judas Priest - Beyond the Realms of Death

When my 23yo son was around 9, he asked alot of questions about Daddy's music. He was pretty deep for a little guy, and he used to say Anthrax was "smart metal". Random notes: Rhythm guitarist Scott Ian's father-in-law is Meat Loaf. Because they were massive fans of rap group Public Enemy and would wear their shirts in concert Chuck D of PE name checked them in their song Bring the Noise. He had no idea who they were. Later Anthrax covered Bring the Noise and recorded it with Public Enemy. They went on tour together afterwards. Chuck D tells the story of how the Anthrax crew took his tour crew under their wing and taught them everything they knew about lighting and sound and that rap tours have never been the same since. He never realized how boring rap shows were previously. On the 4th of July 1986, I went to Great Adventure in NJ with a few friends to see Night Ranger. We met a couple of guys who knew my friends there. One had Anthrax self painted on his jean jacket. I had never heard of Anthrax before. While looking for a pay phone (which actually existed then) to see if my dad would give them a ride home as well, three guys came up behind us and saw his jacket. "Yo, you guys like Anthrax?" "Yeah, why?" "They're on the phone." Drummer Charlie was on the pay phone and Scott Ian was standing there as well. We talked for a while. One of the coolest people I ever met. Later we met singer Joey. And then we sat with them in the stands during the daytime set. Scott mocked the crap out of them. Anthrax just stopped by to give the bus driver a rest, not for Night Ranger. I only didn't talk to then lead guitarist Dan Spitz as we thought he was another teen fan. He's 5'1".

After hearing all of the Big 4, Anthrax was my favorite. They were always just fun. You mentioned you loved the drumming. That's Charlie Benante, and he writes all of Anthrax's music. He writes the guitars, the bass, and the drums. Then the band meets up and tweaks what he came up with, the lead guitarist will add his solo that he will come up with. It's been like that since Spreading The Disease. Lyrically, Scott Ian (the rhythm guitarist) writes the lyrics. Most Anthrax songs you can put lyrically as social issue, Stephen King, or pop culture. If you do listen to more, should try with other main lead singer they have had, John Bush. John Bush replaced Joey Belladonna after Persistence of Time, and now Joey is back. Try Potter's Field, Only, Random Acts of Senseless Violence, Fueled, In A Zone, and Inside Out.

Fun fact: in about 2009 I talked to the drum tech for Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss and I told him, verbatim, "To me, there are four bases of metal: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax." A few short years later: THE BIG FOUR. Go figure.

Wouldn't know how a song that's defending native Americans and speaking of how they are treated as offensive in the first place.

Anthrax are a thrash band with a classic rock singer. To see their versatility, I suggest to listen to their cover of classic Kansas song "Carry On Wayward Son".

Anthrax is generally considered to be the fun, silly, party band of the big 4. Metallica, of course, is the powerhouse diverse band, Megadeth is the most technically proficient band, and Slayer is the most brutal. Together, however, they pretty much defined the lat 80's and 90's for me. Between the big 4, Dio, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate this pretty much sums up the majority of the content on my mp3 player. If you have not yet heard King Diamond, I think you might find him.. interesting. I would suggest the song 'Sleepless Nights' which is a part of a concept album (King Diamond does horror stories in album form.. each song continuing the story from the prior song on the album.) Optionally, you could try the song 'Evil' which features King Diamond on vocals.

I definitely recommend Sleepless Nights for KD, and probably Curse of the Pharaohs or Evil from Mercyful Fate.
