Maybe it didn't sound THAT good on the street. Sounds like this had a great work of post production sound, with that percusion and squeaky clean clarity.

Totally!! Makes me mad 😡 Regardless of any possible postproduction, just to witness the 2 best sax players harmonizing so well, while playing utterly insane lines, while looking so cool, while dancing their own ways and just being completely badass sharing peace and love..

You can see a few glimpses of one of the cameramen wearing something on their back. I couldn't make out what it was, it might have been a drum machine and speakers or it might simply have been a backpack. I also noticed that there was a remarkable uniformity of volume as they are moving about, pointing their saxes in different directions, having people stand in front of them and all sorts of changing conditions. It's possible they have wireless mics tucked out of sight in their instruments in which case someone will need to be carrying the receivers and recording equipment. I could see that along with a drink machine all being built into a backpack

I'm actually especially happy about that - LA native, can confirm that crazy shirtless guys yelling at you is part of the classic Venice Beach experience. I'm sure Leo P could have handled it, he's played NYC subways for years, but this was likely their pre-defined plan for just such an event. Very slick.

Back in 1999 I was staying in a hostel in downtown Sydney on George Street when I awoke to the sound of two saxophonists busting out the coolest rendition of the superman theme tune I've ever heard, all while commuters just strolled past. I sat in my window watching them from 5 stories up for a good half hour until a massive rain storm blew in and they packed it up. Honestly one of my favourite memories from an entire year in Australia. Just stumbled on 2Saxy and it reminded me of that story. Would be ace to hear these guys do a version of it.
@AkkiLad
@AkkiLad Жыл бұрын
George Street does get a lot of really good musicians playing there so to regular commuters it's probably an everyday experience, and on weekdays when people are trying to just get from Point A to Point B no-one really pays attention to anything which is a real shame. A similarly, real memorable experience I've had was walking down George Street some weekend and watching a bunch of random musicians and even dancers collaborating and improvising. It had to be one of the best performances I've ever experienced.

Do people comprehend this level of talent and skill? I played and still have my alto. Was lead in jazz band for at least 5-6 years. Their skill level is remarkable. Edit: I could make mine scream false notes like she did at the 20 minute point too. Also… the low notes on a sax take a lot of air. These two are remarkably talented. This is a complete workout. Edit 2: also nothing pairs better than a bari and alto sax. They simply work perfectly together.

Back in '72 I was Natalie Cole's first agent..She was insecure, BUT SHE DESPERATELY WANTED TO be a "star". I told her she had all the talents to be that star. She has the talents to hire anyone who plays or sings behind her, or choose those in the front office. But you gotta WANT to work hard and gotta LIKE what you do. And you gotta say what-you-say in "A NICE WAY'. She listened to me. having a famous father WAS NOT THE KEY TO STARDOM. Having the WANT, was the key.!!!! YOU GUYS ARE ALREADY ON THAT ROAD.z. That was great guys. Like a tv show or a short film, but all the dialogue is music. Really enjoyed the sax off and the escape from the crazy guy. quite dramatic moments. Looking forward to more :)

You two are killing it. Grace's solos are awesome and Master Leo's solos are mind blowing. Love it lol. Adding drums spiced er up for sure. Cheers to you both . Thank you for sharing.
