We got a lot of these in the UK - the official model was called the Shogun - imports were mostly LWB stick shift diesels !!!

Oh yeah, they're very deluxe! Pajero in Spanish is uh... Kind of a Japanese/Spanish misinterpretation of sorts with good intention of course. The intent of the definition didn't exactly cross the Japanese engineer's minds because of cultural differences. Google Translate won't show you, but this kind of marketing error is the Spanish version of Engrish, just like with what happened with the Starions.

We still have some of these Pajeros on our roads. Although the local Mitsubishi dealership did not sell these, they were available from the importers of used Japanese vehicles ( grey market). Mitsubishi vehicles have a good record of reliability and durability in our country. There is also a Mini-Pajero, a 2-door vehicle, the size of a Suzuki Jimny/Samurai. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

Those were very common in the Netherlands, many farmers drove them.

That is standard spec for South Africa with exception of the extra fender rear view mirror and the roof antenna ...those were Japanese spec...Very reliable if maintained regularly...weakness was the petrol mode cylinder heads

Used to be common as muck all over Europe. Mostly with the modern 2.5 litre engine. I had this 2.8 in a Delica. Solid reliable. Just dont run them hard and long (Freeway high speed) as you will heat soak the block and crack the head - insuffcient cooling in the design....its a repurposed truck engine. Not economical as diesel go. Not fussy on what you feed it. Will hapily run on Veg oil, filtered used motor oil etc.

Grey import. If you have any interest in motorcycles, look at the Japanese home market motorcycles. The quality standard is so much higher than the bikes for the rest of the world. The UK was always a good market for grey imports, as Japan like the UK is RHD.

Exceed is mid/low level there is a Super Exceed and then Royal Exceed (faux woodgrain and more electronic assist)above it. Might have a LSD diff in the rear though i think that's Super/Royal spec

Thanks for your introduction to the Mitsubishi SUV. I have often seen the Monteros in used car lots here in Ohio badly rusted But they have a decent reputation ie good 6 cylinder engines if thirsty. Are they worth looking at to buy as a work truck provided they aren’t rusty? I drive an older 4Runner 2wd as a work truck now
