Awesome system of climbing! I started using this method, made a few changes to suit me and love the lighter weight of the overall system and how easy, quiet and simple it is to use.

Thank you I’ve been looking for a efficient non-mechanical way to ascend a tree so thank you very much for this couple adjustments and it will serve my purpose❤😂

Thank you! I've been trying this for a little while, and I just KNEW I was doing something wrong. As usual, I was making it a LOT harder than it should have been. Seeing where you place the foot tether at the tree, and where you tether your bridge, makes all the difference in the world. I hope to get enough practice that I make it look as effortless as you do. Thanks again.

How’s this system been working for year. I thought about this system years ago. My fear is sweating here in MT when it’s zero degrees. I climb mostly with bolts and an aider now .

Awesome video, I’ve been thinking of this since I started saddle hunting this year. Great to see a good demonstration, looks like the sticks will stay home next time

Hats off to you Sir! Sometimes going old school is the best way to go. I can only imagine how the arborists from decades ago would get the job done. 👏🏻

I very uch appreciate you posting this. I have been racking my brain on figuring out a way to climb a tree with just rope. With not a lot of rope. This method is very simple. I do wish you had talked about and showed more about how you desended. One of the things I was trying figure out was the knot you used to desend.

Between my saddle and the tree is a VT Prusik and tied to the right lineman's loop is a Autoblock tied with a Hollowblock. The VT can be replaced with a Michoacan that moves easier. I will probably start using a Madrock Safeguard in place of the hitch between my saddle and the tree as it will be easier to SRT with. I have started using a left handed CT Quick Roll that I like a lot. I will probably backup the Safeguard with a Michoacan.

How about passing limbs? This was my first year in a saddle, loved it but hated all the weight of sticks/platform and wasn’t sold on one sticking or presets. Considered 2 sticks with 3 step aiders on each and a top step scout platform since generally I hunt 12-15ft in the river bottoms, but again wasn’t sold on hight limitations. This is going to be what I’m practicing this off season.

Just the one above that I made to answer a question on SaddleHunter.com, thread Why don't yall 2TC?. I was describing how I adapted the way Scott Adkins climbs to suit me. "Yes, it can be safer and simpler than that. I rig on the ground and don't change any thing at height. 35' of line feeds out of my right Sys hauler through a BD Guide ATC attached to the bridge and up to the tree as a tether. Above the ATC there is either a VT prusik (6mm TRC) or a autoblock (19" hollowblock). This serves the purpose of a standard prusik to adjust the distance to the tree, but maintains the full strength of the main line if the prusik fails. A prusik is usually the weakest link in a system. Below the ATC and attached to my right lineman's loop is a 13" hollowblock tied as a autoblock for back up and to keep slight tension on the ATC. I also climb with a left foot loop girth hitched to the tree, supper easy and fast. When the hunt is over all that's required to come down is to apply grip pressure to the hitches above and below the ATC. It's a controlled smooth descent and if you turn loose of either hitch the other will hold you where you're at, ie. to take your platform off. Once on the ground I temporarily take the line out of the ATC and feed it back into the right pouch and the reconnect the ATC for next time. Most of the time it never touches the ground and is nice in a swamp." Someone asked me to post a pic of the setup. I posted the pics below and the video. saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?attachments/2tc-saddle-setup-2-jpg.46038/ saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?attachments/2tc-setup-2-autoblocks-2-jpg.46039/ saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?attachments/2tc-setup-vt-autoblock-2-jpg.46040/ saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?attachments/foot-loop-jpg.46068/ In one of the photos I'm showing 2 autoblocks (13" Hollowblocks) and in another a autoblock and VT prusik (28" Ice Tail). I had been using a VT made from 6mm TRC when the main line was 8mm Oplux. Currently using 11mm WorkPro. There's 35' in the right pouch, (2lbs., 8,092 MBS). Can also SRT on it.

So are you ising a leg strap on your left leg like Scott uses ? Or you just tied in to your saddle and putting your knee against the tree in place of the leg strap ?

I hope you are willing to answer some questions. It appears you have a sleeve of some sort on your tethers. Can you tell me what it is? Is it attached in any way to keep it in place while climbing?
@NorthFourtyTube
@NorthFourtyTube 2 жыл бұрын
Paul, I apologize for not seeing your question until now. What looks like a sleeve is just cammo duck tape to protect the sewn eye. As for the small black cord sewn to the foot loop it's 1/8" elastic cord. I got that and how I use it from Scott Adkins. The foot loop is made from a 2" strap run through a old back pack padded strap. Can be done many ways. On my CT Quick roll for SRT I used 1" webbing with a loop tied at the bottom and a 1" long piece of tubing below the knot. I slip my foot in and slide the tubing down to the top of my foot. The loop stays put and the single layer 1" webbing wraps small around the CT quick roll. 2TC is pretty simple. I think the key is keeping it simple and in your workspace. If you'll notice where the tethers are attached to the tree when I start. I'm not having to reach below my waste or above my head. You do have to trust sitting back in your saddle and I always keep my weight on one of the tethers. No clinging to the tree.

@@NorthFourtyTube it sure looks like a sweet setup. It appears you are able to gain about 2’ on each move. Very good.

@@NorthFourtyTube what’s the cord sewn into your foot loop webbing that keeps the footloop secure to your foot? Does it have some sort of slip knot to tighten it to your foot?

I use a Lone Wolf climber seat with 4 step wider attached instead of the foot aider. The procedure of ascending is essentially the same except when in reach hunting height I already have my plate form.

perfect size smooth bark tree for two tether climb, but little skinny for saddle hunting to hide behind….. a let loop on your right thigh will help with larger trees, and some guys like two foot loops instead of one….

Thats all fune and good but not all trees are straight with no limbs, sometimes a crooked one with limbs is all you have to choose from. So you would need a linemans also and undo one at a time to get past the limb
