i am so glad i found your video! I have watched numerous ones and found your technique with the small and large trowels to be the better option for a smoother finish. Yours is the only one with the cement grout and it makes a crisp look that is gorgeous! Thank you so much for this tutorial.

Hi there, thanks for sharing your project. What's the long term update with bath products spills, high humidity, temp variations and such?
@2thesunnyside Жыл бұрын
It's still holding up well! There have been no issues with water and humidity. We just wish we would've used the Cheng sealer we originally wanted to use. The one we used did waterproof it, but it really doesn't work for oily substances like hair oil, lotion etc. But we don't mind the color variation from that.

I am going to redo my dining room table today with this product. I bought the Cheng’s sealer to seal it when I’m done. I was a little nervous to try this, but your tutorial has given me enough confidence to tackle this project. Thanks for posting.

quick question: the Henry 549 directions say 2 pts material to 1 pt water. Looks like you had a bit more water. Do you recall the ratio? thx

To prepare the Feather Finish Concrete, place 1 1/2 - 2 cups of water in a disposable container. I used a yogurt container. Gradually add the feather finish concrete stirring until it is about the consistency of drywall mud or a thick frosting. If it gets too thick you can always add more water. It needs to be spreadable, but not too thin that it will not adhere to the edge of the countertop. I used a paint stick to stir mine.

FYI - 511 impregnator will be fine for a concrete countertop in the kitchen because once it is fully cured, there aren't any issues with food safety. Although 511 Impregnator is a solvent, it is only a 1 on the toxicity level (0 - 4). that is equal to laundry detergent.

Can you use it for floor? Like bathrooms
@2thesunnyside3 жыл бұрын
We haven't used it on floors ourselves however, this product is meant to be used for leveling concrete floors prior to tiling etc. Maybe read up a little more on the specific brand you'd like to use before giving it a go. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

What kind of caulk did you use and did it match? Thank you!
@2thesunnyside2 жыл бұрын
Great question Weston! You can buy grout caulk at your local hardware store. It's super easy to use. It does come in a few different shades and it matches pretty well. Home Depot: rstyle.me/+9tuOfrosTmFKm84eWyaYMw Amazon: amzn.to/3CcDU5r

Hello! How long did you wait between each coat and sanding for it to dry?
@2thesunnyside4 жыл бұрын
Once the concrete lightens up it should be dry enough to sand. I sanded the first layer the same day as application.

Looks great! Is gray the only color available in this product? I’d like to do the same...but with a beige color (if possible).
@2thesunnyside4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching JJ Jackson. The actual concrete material is grey itself, however you could get colored powders to mix into it to create a custom color. Hope that helps.

What is the dry time between the coats
@2thesunnyside3 жыл бұрын
Great question Nick. Dry time will vary depending on temperature and humidity in your workspace. But the concrete will change in appearance from a dark grey to a light grey. We let ours dry overnight. Hope that helps.

How has this held up over time?
@2thesunnyside4 жыл бұрын
The feather weight finish has held up really well, there are no chips, cracks etc. However, we wish we would've used a better sealer, that keeps more oily substances out. There are a few spots where lotion marks are visible etc. The sealer we used is more for water protection. But the concrete itself is still looking awesome!
