If one is familiar (and one usually is) with Magic: The Gathering, one should check Mirrodin if one missed it for additional inspiration. They have a ton of arts of a metal-themed realm. Like huge plains of hexagonal metal plates, golden grass, copper tree trunks and much more.

the "empire" army I'm doing is from here, so much so that hurricanum has cogs on the wheels linked with a chain (still looking for an "engine" and exhaust pipes bits to fit the model...) and the horses are mechanical too, painted bronze and cogs attached to the under belly. You've given me much great about info the realm and the people etc...and the ideas from this will really push this army forwards. I'm going to look at finger nail jewelry for the cannons, gunners, decorate shields etc... I'd best stop typing now or i could be going on for awhile...LOL again, great video, and congrats on another great vid over at mini wargaming

I'm doing a Khorne army from Chamon, right now that mostly means grey astrogranite bases with some metallic highlights and Nihilakh oxide. And some wartrophies from battles aginst tzeentch.

My favorite realm. I may be weird, and my background of Magic the Gathering showing, but Chamon to me screams Mirrodin/New Phyrexia vibes. Which I know is wrong, but I think that's a cool mental image

Great video. After watching your video on creating a story for your army I wanted to create a free people / Stormcast mixed army and wanted Tzeentch to become their main enemy but didn't know in which realm to place them.The realm of metal would fit perfectly for that as I also love to have blacksmithing and crafting altogether in the background as well.

Also, you could do your faction from a city between two realms much like hammer haul.

Absolutely true! The reason I talk about realms specifically is that we have realm-specific ones in most publications. Also to note, when characters talk about Hammerhal, they usually reference which realm they mean because the two haves of the city have very different feels (i.e. hammerhal-aqshy, hammerhal-Ghyran)

It's stated that the main Gloomspite civilization lives within this realm. I'd love to see some metallic takes on squigs and maybe nitric or mercurial gas-infused fungi. I also have this dumb idea for a spiked squig(AKA kind of like a gordo), that's coated in metal like bronze or titanium or even diamond, that trolls and grots attach to the end of their flails like what the fanatics do, but instead you've got a metal squig on the end of it.

Looking forward to the one for Ghur - I've grown super-attached to my rolled-up Free City there named "Candleforge" and I'm struggling to think up a non-Stormcast defensive force for this "bastion of civilization in this savage land." The tricky thing is "how to do Freeguild without those stupid battle onesies everyone's wearing". Maybe ignore Freeguild entirely and base it off the city's sizable aelvan population with Wanderers units? EDIT: Wait, not an option since I want to field Collegiate Arcane allies and the factions they can ally with are very limited. Damn... EDIT 2: Should also mention the city is renowned for its Arcane Forge (the eponymous Candle Forge, where all is forged over a magical flame no bigger than a lit candle), so higher-tech isn't out of the question.

A question I've had on conversions and stuff: How do you handle rules? Like, what do you do with those swapped out weapons? Speaking on the Realm of Metal, while I'm not planning on have my stories get to there, I was thinking of having a Darkoath Warqueen from the Realm of Metal. That's the thing with my armies, I think. They combine people from all different sorts of people.

The conversion question would be a great lone for WYR, shoot it over there and I'll get it on the next show :) For the realm stuff, having a character from a different realm (in this case Metal) is a cool idea :) From the tiny bits of lore we have on Warqueens it seems like they work with just about everyone and travel far to build their armies, so I think that's a great idea!
