Some more realm weirdness for anyone who hasn’t researched yet, Hysh and Ulgu (don’t judge my spelling) which are the realms of light and shadow, orbit each other, similar to how you might think of a yin/yang symbol and that produces light and night for the realms. Also Azyr is like the North Star which can be seen above the other realms. These were difficult, abstract thoughts for me to grab onto but now I think it’s pretty cool.

As much fun as the idea of Disc worlds can be, the idea of spherical planets is really fantastic to me. The idea of Realmgates that would allow Steampunk/Arcanepunk armies to travel to other planets to do battle for power and resources just blows my mind. I understand if that's too sci-fi and treads too close to 40k. It's just so METAL!

how can daemons fit in this whole "coming from realm X" theme? even if they now can stay in the mortal realms, they essentially all come from the realm of chaos.
@2Tough5 жыл бұрын
This is true, they ultimately originate from the realm of chaos. But the longer you stay in a realm, the more it effects you. So even a Daemon of khorne, spawned into Ulgu (realm of shadow) can see his skin turn dark, and begin to use the shadows as a weapon...over time of course.

I play the Nighthaunt (but only casual games so don't expect any ultra-competitive advice from me). Assuming you already have the Soul Wars box, I'd advise upgrading to a full unit of Grimghast Reapers and then maybe try playing with some Bladegheist Revenants. Oh, and another unit of Chainrasps and a second Spirit Torment wouldn't go amiss. Plus, if you have the money, the Black Coach just looks awesome! I've also converted up a Vampire Lord out of an Idoneth Deepkin Soulscryer, as an ally they're awesome as they can resurrect your ghosts automatically.

the realms in AOS have caused a lot of confusion to me. I played a bit of Total War Warhammer 2 (which i know is based on WH Fantasy), but Ive been confused as to why it is as realms and not the old world layout. Like it seems much more confusing for how the undead from shyish go to another realm or something like that rather than just having one large openly accessible map where armies can move about and fight eachother and take control of new territories in the same world why would undead make a settlement in another realm that doesnt really suit them and that is largely controlled / owned by another faction (from a newbie perspective)? It seems like it makes it more difficult to add lore to a battle as a new player (like in an AOS Path to Glory campaign). As a newer AOS player who knows about the old world and stuff it feels much more confusing.

So they're all disc worlds?
@iamalpharius39594 жыл бұрын
Sooooo after the end times all this is just happening in different reamls in the warp? So when the planet blew up and siggyboy and the dragon made the realms its not really a tangible thing. Like the realms of man are kindof on the same plane in the warp as the realm of chaos? Or are they pockets of shattered reality in a pocket dimension like comorragh. If a person wants to play fantasy roleplay in this setting is it even possible? It would be hard to play a chart based game if you have 8 map charts for 8 different realms. Moving around becomes logistically complicated if you don't want to break the fourth wall.
@thomastakesatollforthedark22314 жыл бұрын
They aren't in the Warp. The warp is connected but they ain't in it. They are suspended within their own little void, like Commorragh. Also the Core book has plenty of maps to show you what the realms are like and how to navigate them. Navigating is also rather easy as you still just need to make a line on a map. Sure, if you want to go from Island X in Chamon to city Y in Ghur you need to find the closest realm gate but that isn't that complicated at all unless you want it to be
@HikingFeral5 жыл бұрын
Anybody that ever played World of Warcraft should know what a realm is 😅
@NewGuy25345 жыл бұрын
The realms are roughly the size of the Old World. So my question is WHY DIDN’T THEY JUST KEEP THE OLD WORLD?!?! You could have still had it, Sigmar could have still been a self-righteous short sighted beard boy who allowed Gorkamorka and Nagash to sit on his council (like the idiot he is), and still keep the Old World Continuity. Hell they brought back Gotrex (still waiting on Felix) to mock the new stuff.
@TheVergoner5 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about Old World as continent that was called as The Old World or about a planet itself? Because he said almost from the begining of the video ( 1:20 ) that these realm are way bigger to human mind to comprehend. Also the reason GW went with Realms theme was that wanted to do the same thing as in 40k, where the galaxy is so big that you can easily add your own planet to set a campaign on and make your own custom space marine Chapter or Eldar craftworlds or whatever. In Old World (the planet) you really can't do the same thing, world map being a slightly altered map of Earth.
@NewGuy25345 жыл бұрын
That still doesn’t explain why they had to destroy the Old World. The core of the World that Was (Old World) is a hub for each realm. So destroy it. Make the gates at the North and South portals to the other realms. Easy peasy.
@TheVergoner5 жыл бұрын
That is literelly exact reason why they destroyed the Old World. Phil Kelly even himself in one of the Stormcast Podcast kinda said the same thing that I said. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYSbqaqQqNegpac First 6 minutes from the video, take a look if you want and/or if you got time. @joopieredcode5 жыл бұрын
I think this whole infinitely expendeble thing is overrated. Sure you can do anything but everything looses significance pretty much. Because you can simply think of a new city if one gets destroyed. I like the idea of these realms though but id prefered them limited in size.
@Kerath5 жыл бұрын
For me, the idea of the Realms is the worst trope in the Age of Sigmar. The Old World was familiar, yet with a solid amount of Fantasy. Dangerous continents from our World were even more nightmarish in the Warhammer version. Everyone shared the same planet and the rules were logical, it was similar enough to our Earth. But these... Realms? Like 8 separate planets connected with Stargates. There is no possibility here for some interesting interactions between kingdoms and races. Brainless, lazy writing, high fantasy discworld trope used over and over again. A far cry from the Old World's grounded logic and rules of the Universe. I hate it.
@thomastakesatollforthedark22314 жыл бұрын
I don't get that. You can still have all that, you just have more room to do that more intriquatly and just MORE. How is there NO possibility for interesting interaction between kingdoms and races?! Hell, that's literally what à lot of the Battletomes focus on, the relationship between factions and how they fit in the realms.
@kelvinsantiago70614 жыл бұрын
Friend each of the reals is its own planet with different empires/kingdoms and republic just like the old world there are Orcs, goblins,beastmen and ruins from the old kingdoms destroyed during the age of chaos! Basically every realm is a new world that is ever expanding, basically an eternal conquest era! It's amazing.
