Are these activities done for amusement, scientific research, or some other reason. Are these creatures killed at the end of the exercise? The guys at the bottom of the pile in the tank always seem to be gasping for breath in all the similar vids I've seen on youtube. It seems rather an unnecessarily cruel way to treat any animal before their deaths or otherwise.

They never kill as these mice are kept as actors. Each time they make a new trap, then they release these mice to see if they enter the new trap. May be they get starved until the new trap is made and that's why they rush madly inside to eat.
