I just got a free 2004 YZ250 because my BIL said it needed way to much to make it run. So I spent 30min getting it apart, getting the carb off, cleaned out and found the excess RTV had clogged the jets. Cleaned that out, reset the carb to factory specs. Put a new plug in it, tested positive for spark. It has a leaking/cracked gas tank so I snagged the one off a free 06 yz250, fresh gas and the free 04 is dead no more! 3rd kick and she is good to go. Bled the brakes and they’re good. No leaks. Needs a shift lever.

save some money do your own rod replacements on these small 2 cycle motors , you got a press all you need is a pair of 2''' by 2''' or 3''' by 3''' square stock bars and a flat stock slab thin enough to fit between the slabs with a u cut out for the rod and you push the slabs apart . Scribe the crank slabs 90 deg from the rod pin before you start to give you a good guide as you reassemble. A set of v blocks and a dial indicator to true, a brass hammer to hit the slabs to true on your done. I have done hundreds working for a dealer for two decades.

Question: Have you ever restored a project back to original brand new condition? It's not nearly as easy as people may think. Depending on its condition, anything that's even remotely worn gets tossed and replaced. Rarely do you use original parts except things like the engine and the frame, which can be brought back to original condition with the help of things like a sandblaster and a good quality welder. Of course, if either is damaged to the point that making it like brand new is impossible it'll get tossed too. It's a painstaking process that could end up taking much longer to complete than you would think.

46:57. Joe I have a pretty good feeling my man knew exactly what he was selling you, and with what you said in the beginning about how he held it for you, knowing of you, yeah.. he knew.. Even still, hopefully at a grand you're only into it for some time, a set of gaskets and seals, fluids, and hopefully less than a couple hundred in parts. It'll be nice either way. edit: at least she's got SOME upgraded parts on her.. you know.. maybe not so much the sprocket, holy smokes, but there are a few nice things the pipe the clutch basket, probably a few others.. eh

These are the kinds of bikes that when you show up to look at it you make your worst "who farted" face, offer him a nickel ($500) and watch him jump on it. A thousand dollars is insane for a trap like this and the seller knows it.

You take a bike to a shop, you pay for labor. With Joe, YT pays Him for his labor..So, even with new parts, Joe isn't losing any money..plus the $ he'll get when he sells this thing. The buyer can watch the video to see it's done right.

@@kennethgray2504 Your here watching it... so if you think that of this channel, says a lot about your IQ.... So why do you bother tuning in? All his vids would be doing very well with always at least 100,000 viewers, and quite a few with round 400,000 views... Also getting parts at trade, he'd be doing quite well.. Maybe you miss the point of the channel, how do you think the channel would go if he bought 100 % running bikes? Na me either. Has a great collection of bikes in the background too.

The fact you think 100k views is huge speaks volumes to your expectations for entertainment. There are billions who watch KZbin so 100k is nothing. Channels like the bearded mechanic or biker stuff have viewship of up to 2.5 million per video. The fact you think a bunch of bikes in the back ground means something about he is successful speaks to you limited knowledge of business. It is clearly junk either purchased and can't be fixed or junk fixed and can't be sold because he has too much money into it and can't be recouped. Either of which is a bad cash flow decision for a business.

@@kennethgray2504 As if you have any clue how he runs his business. I'd bet his business is doing quite well, as if you go back and look through his catalog, he often finds bikes that need very little money and require mostly labor. With the amount of views his channel gets and the frequency of uploads he is making decent money from ads alone. In his niche the CPM is decent so there is no down side to buying and fixing the occasional money pit bike. He's making decent money from views alone, let alone the money from flipping bikes. And, 100k views could very well be $300-700 (or more) in his pocket which alone would pay to fix most bikes.
