Don't let 2wd stop you from having fun on the dirt 😆👍

You can drive 2wd off-road, all day no problem! You just need to watch out for mud or snow. Those can get you stuck even with a proper 4x4.

putting the rav4 fwd was awesome. It's very interesting to see this 2001 toyoa performing so well like that

@GridLineGo hey what's up bro did you try the fwd in soft sand. I actually lifted my 97 fwd rav with a old emu kit and all terrain tires. And been debating to take it in soft sand before converting it to awd. Curious if you gave it a try, I added recovery point to my hitch with a factor 55 incase I do get stuck. But was curious if you had tried at all in the sand with your fwd rav.

Dude! I off road my fwd RAV4.2 also! Key seems to be momentum momentum momentum, especially in mud. My biggest issue is striking the oil pan, however. Seems to scrape every time I go out. Should really get a skid plate before I push my luck too far.
@GridLineGo3 жыл бұрын
Momentum really is key. You just have to calibrate the "send" factor. How much and for how long hahaha!! Yeah, the oil pan is definitely and major thing to look out for. A decent skiddy will go along way. Thanks for watching 👍

Love the video. I also have a 2nd gen Rav4 2wd, and I love it. It's the 04 models so it has the upgraded motor which gives it a bit of a power boost. Thinking about maybe raising it a bit, adding good tires, and taking some trails with a couple of friends just in case I need help assistance lmao.

The 2wd / Fwd Rav4 was also offered with a limited-slip front differential, which would make a slight better difference on such terrain.

ive honestly gone up stuff like in this a v4 camry the only time ive ever seen 4wd look important is when you're like.. knee deep in mud, or trying to climb rocks up to your waist, at which point you're only off roading for fun and you're probably going to cause a lot more problems than just getting stuck.
@GridLineGo2 жыл бұрын
With enough will and momentum a 2wd goes a lot further than most people will think

just needs some k02's on that rav4 should be very capable for a 2wd

Very good video. The rav4 did very good specialy with those tires. Better tires more agresive driving and better lines and you could have done the whole trail
@GridLineGo3 жыл бұрын
It did absolutely amazing for what is. If I had a small lift and better tires, I would suppose that it could have made it 100 more yards, but maybe not the whole trail on it's own power. That hill was steep. Now if it was AWD, I think it would have a much better chance. Thanks for watching!

How did you get a 2WD 2.0 petrol rav4 2nd gen? I am convinced that this car 2wd version was only avaliable with 1.8 petrol engine. Very interesting.

Not bad a slightly higher SUV might make it in 2wd and airing down a bit. A little bit of luck and speed might do the trick.
@GridLineGo3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we think so too. We did drop the tire pressure a bit on the RAV4 once we started to head back uphill. The FWD aspect probably didn't help either, if it was RWD, we suspect we would have a better chance

Its 2wd. I havent heard of a Haldex system before, what is that?

@@GridLineGo basically, it's 4wd, but you can't take down the driveshaft, or else the ecu will see that the back wheels are spinning and it won t let you rev it more

Some hopes for my 2wd Rav4 lol. Tires and ground clearance might of helped out a bit. But honestly, I don't think even the 4wd Rav4 would of made it much further either.
@GridLineGo4 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! I'm so impressed with this car! And yes, I agree, the tires for sure especially on the traction boards. There are future plan of making this RAV4 awd one day, and we want to return to this trail and try it again
@gurpreetsoomal5408 Жыл бұрын
The AWD Rav4 would make a big difference IMO. The only way to really tell is to compare it directly, but based on other videos it seems to be great, especially for people that have the factory Torsen rear differential, or even better, the aftermarket locking rear diff.
