A mysterious figure approaches a gray haired man covered in dust, oil, and grime who is tinkering with an engine. "I need a ship." "Yeah? What kind?" "Sturdy, fast, holds cargo." "How much cargo?" We see a brief shot of a small group of men and women. One of them holds a baby. They are dressed in ragged, dirty clothing. They are different in appearance in many ways, but all share the same look of fear and desperation. "A few decent pieces." "You got money?" "A bit." We cut to a dingy dive bar, where the mysterious figure shares a table and a drink with a grizzled man sporting too many scars to count. "You're out of your mind, ya know that? There's no amount of money they could pay you to ever make this sane." Says the scarred man grimly. "Sometimes it's worth than money." "No one gives a shit about them." A squad of soldiers storms a home, shooting anyone they see as screams and blood erupt. "Maybe someone should." "I'd lose the good guy streak. This business tends to kill 'em." The mysterious figure flashes a smile as two thugs pull their guns. Flashes of gunfire erupt. "It kills a lot of people." As the music reaches its crescendo, we are deluged by images of fire fights, both terrestrial and galactic, as our mysterious figure takes on foes, finds solace in a bottle, and shares a small moment with an elderly woman who gives a small grin as she utters: "You have to be careful flying those old crates. You never know who's memories you're carrying." The music quiets as the mysterious figure is led to a relatively modest craft covered by a dusty, dry rotted tarp by the old mechanic, who introduces them. "My old man knew the guy that used to fly her. She's lost some beauty with age, but she's still got some spirit left in her yet." The mysterious figure lifts a portion of the tarp, revealing a small bit of the faded hull. A series of Japanese Kanji come into view. The mysterious figure silently mouthes: "Bebop"
