New rupes machines are interesting, but too expensive for not professional. I bought Milwaukee FROP15 instad of Rupes because it was 500€ less. But i will keep my mk2 15 Rupes cord machine in backup..

great video! Feel free to make a comparison to the Shinemate in the same category. Rupes was late on the cordless. Might be with good reason?😊

John, How does the cutting and polishing ability of the Rupes HLR 15 compare to your Flex Forced rotation XCE 8? I'm on the fence as far as which one to get.
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
That's a really cool question. I'm not sure. But forced rotation never stalls so I just find it edges a bit better. But this new rupes cordless runs upto 5200 opm on 15mm orbit. Vs 3800 on 8mm but driven rotation. Id guess they would be close
@artsteinbroner7832Ай бұрын
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks. Since you've used both I thought you'd have a definitive opinion of which one you prefer.
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
my preference is forced rotation mate. Thats just my thing not all agree you must ask that question first, which dynamic do you prefer and then make your decision. So the cordless XCE is my axe of choice. I will get a Rupes HLR15 one day though it impressed me a lot. just need to sort my engine first.

@@ForensicDetailing I’ve got the Flex 3401 VRG corded. Had it a very long time. Like you, with your Porsches and Track running Bimmer, I’ve done all the maintenance it needs and it runs well. I value your input since you’ve worked with both. Based on your feedback I’ll definitely be picking up the Cordless Flex, since 90% of my polishing has been done with a Direct Drive Flex. Cheers.

Thanks again for another interesting video. There have been some reports that the machine can wander and walk with wool and microfibre pads. How are you finding it with wool and microfibre pads so far? Overall the machine has many pros, but one thing that surprises me is that Rupes didn't join the CAS or Bosch 18v battery alliances.
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
I've done one car with yellow rupes wool. Was great. Someone mentioned battery gets close to car which is true. But no walking. Im used to forced rotation so DA always feels highly stable to me. Da can't really walk you because it's only 15mm orbit that's driven. Plate it not driven and it's the plate rotation which creates travel. Blue wool and course compound needs very short rapid wet set or else can be very grabby to remove.
@hex_7187Ай бұрын
@@ForensicDetailing Cheers Jon. I bought a Flex 3401; on your recommendation in 2016. It's a great machine. Having switched to cordless on my 1" and 3" I was interested in a cordless 5". My Rupes arrived today😀 Good luck with the engine rebuild.

@forensicdetailingchannel ultimatum if you had access to both flex and rupes battery eco system which one would you get? flex cordless xfe / xce forced rotation or either of these rupes cordless ? I bought the flex xce cordless about 2 years ago for about £450 it's still brand new in its packaging still haven't used it yet was thinking should I sell it and get this rupes....i can see this rupes is about £300 more too but it just looks cool

I'm a forced rotation guy m8. Plus I have flex vac blower drills light inflator which all use their battery system. I spent a lot of money to get it all m8. But I think rupes will build all this as well they are at the start of their battery journey
@TomDeSadeleerАй бұрын
Those things are WAY too expensive... I'll keep my cordless Dewalt DA...
@GregoryVeizadesАй бұрын
That $750 price tag is for the while kit. Machine only if history is anything to go by will be closer to $480. But there is a reason they cost so much. They really are that good. They are the industry standard for a reason.
@TomDeSadeleerАй бұрын
@@GregoryVeizades You won't get far without enough batteries and chargers... So... Machine only is kinda useless 🤷 Anyhow, it's way more expensive than other cordless polishers 🤷
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
I think rupes will always be top of market. And being top of market means they wont compete price wise with other brands, the moment they try to they will be dhoomed. But their model seems to be working, even though you have to accept not all will buy them or be able to afford them.
@emmanuelhud121 күн бұрын
Down to person preferences. But I think Rupes polishers are over hyped. I have a Rupes 15 mk3 it wasn't all that the hype cut out to be. This video felt like pan the advertiser 😂😂 I love Rupes pads and polish tho 👌 but meguiars still tops it. Rupes is over hyped. There definitely is better products on the market. That's for sure!
@sadsismintАй бұрын
I considered getting one of these... but selling it only as a big package currently is very off putting. I want the polisher with a case/chargers and to use my own pads/compounds.

@sadsismintАй бұрын
@@ForensicDetailing mmm I had asked them about this, but they gave no indication of if/when at the time.
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
it will come mate. my guess is these are the first tools using this battery format. So initial kit options will get the batteries out there. So rupes could offer tool battery charger kits and BAS kits with pads and polishes. but might as well keep it simple and just do one kit to start with.
@zenos9302Ай бұрын
They add that stuff so they can keep that price insanely steep.

Would be interested for you to test the Ryobi DA. I know it’s not going to be as good as the main brands but as someone which has a ton of Ryobi batteries, it’s tempting. They also make a detail polisher too.
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
I will do it m8 I just had a feeling it might be the same core machine as a few other ones. So the review would basically conclude if I have Ryobi tools and want a cordless da and never want to accompany it with mini polishers then this will be solid choice.
@DavidTillyerАй бұрын
@@ForensicDetailing definitely a selfish request on my part. They do now offer a drill shaped mini/detail polisher. No idea if it’s any good though.

@gavinbetts4404Ай бұрын
The design is flawed with the curved design with the battery it sits so close to the panel when polishing and I seen about 15 cars done with this polisher to u so worried u going to hit the panel and have to adjust your technique not ideal. Also not having to mains cord adapter on release for professional using this all day is not great and making u pay for it separately is clever by rupes and greedy as it available just making more money. So my advice don’t buy it because how the battery sit get yourself a flex
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
I think it's good observation. You get close on verticals. You can create more distance with straight handle like flex but then you loose the ergonomic design. I think locating a large square 18v 5 amp battery will always be a challenge. If you want best ergonomic you make tube battery like in the nano or hlr75. But then you loose ability to make suite of power tools using standard battery platform. So does use of this square 5am 18v hint at more cordless tools on same platform. I hope so. Remember talking about this with flex tools years ago. Rupes I think needs to bring out full range of battery powered tools. Lighting, drill, blower, pump inflator, impact drivers and wrench etc...

Thanks for the reply, great video as always. As a weekend warrior I'll stick with the flex as the batteries can be used in other tools, a battery system as specifically for one tool makes it a very specialised purchase IMO
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
thats interesting point yer. I think rupes will benefit from adding more tools to a suite that use these batteries so you can pool batteries. I bet this comes though just will take time. would love to see like rupes lights and blowers and drills etc.

£750 plus. * COUGH *. Are you kidding me?! I can’t justify spending that much on that kit!
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
no and thats fine. theres a whole range of budget options out there for this. Rupes dont want to, and wont be able compete with the chinese companies. They want to be the most expensive and they want to innovate. nano ibrid, HLr75 etc... all innovative. All will get copied.
