I just wanted to take a minute to thank you. I am a true beginner in the auto detailing world, and I'm a female in this male dominated industry. But your videos have truly been a great help to me. I've watched a few different KZbinrs, but you by far break it down to a simple level where is beginners can't go wrong. You're not long and drawn out but very knowledgeable, which is great. I can sense your humility, and I just wanted to say it is much appreciated. Keep up the amazing work!

Scott, recently purchased a 2009 Honda Accord coupe low milage from a dealership, loaded with swirl marks and light scratches, after watching most of your paint correction videos I purchased a Harbor Freight DA and Meguiar's d300 and d301 with microfiber pads and proceeded to buff and polish the car - using your videos as a guide - I owe you a big thank you - car turned out outstanding. Now have to dread the New England weather for a spell. THANK YOU - Your videos were invaluable!

I have a 2010 Honda Accord coupe BLACK and have been watching as many videos as I can to do the same. Trying to pick out what I need and technique to get started. I'm sure black paint requires special compound and polish and different touch. Anything you can share to help?
@jdisdetermined6 жыл бұрын
cgasieni black paint polishes the same as any other color. It is just incredibly revealing of imperfections. I'd recommend starting out with something like the Chemical Guys correction kit, $50 gets you #32 heavy cut compound #34 medium compound #36 light cut polish and #38 finish polish. It's good to start with less aggressive products and work your way up until you get results. If you have heavy defects and deep scratches you may need a microfiber pad for strong cutting ability. Otherwise I'd recommend sticking with foam pads, just all around easier to use. Chemical Guys make a great foam kit. There are many other pad options, they are just what I prefer. I'd start with a mid level, less expensive but still capable DA. Meguiars MT-300, Porter Cable 7424XP, something in that range. If you catch the detail bug you can always upgrade to a high end DA and use the first one with a 3" plate and pads for tight areas. A 3" will come in very handy in some spots on almost any vehicle.. Have fun, it's addictive! These are my opinions based on my experience, others may differ.. =)

After I heard you say that you're not going to ask me to subscribe, like, and/or comment, I did all of the above, because you're the first person that I've ever heard on KZbin say that. It says a lot about your character. Honesty and humility is hard to come by these days... especially on social media. By the way, great video.

I completely agree with your statement regarding the HF 8" that its a fantastic tool for working your skillset. Start with it and it's only up from there. There is a good amount of vibration on it but I will say for beginners, get you a 3" and 5" backing plate and pads, grab a good compound and start practicing and honing your skills.

Good gosh, after watching this video and all those polishers lined up, it made me think I was looking at the local Golden Coral buffet. "Which item(s) do I pick tonight?" "Oh hell, i'm not on a diet, pick em all!" Scott is one of the most honest detailers on KZbin. He tell's it straight whether it's a good review or bad one. Honesty is what I look for in a detailing video. Tell me if it's gonna be worth my dollars and cents as I don't have nothing to waste. I need a good value on a product that is EFFECTIVE. Scott seems to do that in his videos.

I bought a Rupes 15mm MKll a couple years ago. It was the first polisher I had ever owned and the first polished I had ever used. Had never even held one in my hands until my Rupes. I have to be honest and say it’s been a disappointment from the get go. Stalled so bad even on slightly curved panels. So I did the washer mod. That made a MASSIVE improvement. But still, it stalls a lot. Even the main guy from Rupes said it was my technique. I’ve logged many hours behind this machine and I can say it’s not my technique anymore. Over all fit and finish it’s second to none. But the stalling has done it for me. I’m gonna be trying out the flex 3401 as soon as I sell my Rupes. I’m not a pro trying to bust out 2-3 cars a day or whatever. Just maybe 1 car a day as I detail for side money or mainly just for the enjoyment. Tired of this pad stalling overhyped polisher.

M6transam maybe give Adam’s swirl killer a go? They have a 15mm and a 21mm
@danlc957 жыл бұрын
That 3401 is a completely different animal. That pad doesn't stall or slow down. If pad stall is an equation you want to get rid of, you might really like the 3401. Since the long throw polishers gained popularity, the 3401 seems to have taken an back seat, but the reality is that it works. I had one, sold it, and just got another one. It doesn't need a lot if any extra pressure, nor does it need to me maxed out on speed. Great for one step polishing, and cleaner wax application. It also has the power to spin a wool pad for heavy cutting. I typically use a PC, or a Rupes Duetto/Mini combo. I love those tools, but they're free spinning random orbitals, and are pretty different from the 3401.

Hello Scott thanks a lot for the video, it is very educational for the people like me that are just beginning to learn the appropriate techniques to machine detailing. And I have this question for you: The rotary buffer cuts time and helps the detailer to keep profitable...with that said, I don´t know why are so many experts on the internet that, rather than explain how to use the rotary they criticize and discourage the use of it. Why is every one talking about DAs and working them if as I can see the rotary buffer has very much potential to achieve the same results?
