Wow, knowing how Hook and Emma's story turned out while rewatching these scenes, you notice so much foreshadowing. Cora: Who was it who bested you? Hook: The Swan girl. Emma. Rest assured, it won't happen again. Cora: No, it won't. You chose her, and the consequences of that decision. You can tell that the writers were setting up Captain Swan from the moment they met. First, their instant chemistry climbing the beanstalk, opening up to each other the first time they met unlike anyone else, not knowing why they trust each other, understanding each other at first glance.... And now Cora said "You chose her," foreshadowing the coming seasons where Hook repeatedly chooses and chases Emma and never stops. :)

Ok I might be getting the wrong idea here, but just to be clear.... Is it just me, or was Hook sort of willing to... sleep with Cora to get to Storybrooke? I mean, when he says "let's... disssscussss thisssss" he's TOTALLY turning on the charm. Like, really?? o.O Because if that's so, it's really kind of... gross.

Well....It was "old" Hook. He definitely tried flirt with Cora in that scene..maybe you have right and he was willing to sleep with her (maybe)...

She says "who was it who bested you?" Cora is asking Hook who tricked him into not coming back with the compass. Who outwitted or defeated him. Emma tricked (or in this case "bested") Hook by handcuffing him in the castle and taking the compass herself.
