I got a lot of request about the dimensions and design of my homemade 2x72 Beltgrinder. Because I don’t have any plans I decided to share the information in this video open source. No machining in this vid but I hope it helps a little bit for all the people who want to build their own. Explaining in a foreign language (im Dutch) is a little challenge for me so if you have any questions or need more dimensions then let me know. Bart

I *really* appreciate videos that include a "what I would do different" segment. That's far more useful than someone pretending that they built something perfect the first time.

Hey Bart as I said in your build video you have created an impressive grinder here. I'm in Canada and will be soon building my version of your machine. Thanks for these design comments and suggestions for improvement. Its great to have this insight before I start. I do like the idea of bolted receiver tubes and plan to marry your design with a couple ideas I'll borrow from the North Ridge Tool 2x72 Pro grinder. If you haven't seen the assy video that Ray's Garage did, its worth a look. Besides the bolted receiver tube assy, they have a nice design on the tracking wheel with a ratchet tension arm instead of springs. I have a Burr King 760 which has a similar ratchet tension wheel and really like it. Thanks again for taking the time to share this great project. If I could only convince you now to teach us how to TIG weld as you are an expert at it. Well done and cheers, Bill.

Instead of an arm for the tension wheel, consider a vertical post. Significantly shorter distance between the support and the wheel

Thanks for sharing this information, it is very helpful and the 'after the fact' thoughts about what you would change are particularly useful since experience is the one thing you can't have until after you need it....but you've given everyone some help on that front, thanks :-)

The changes you've mentioned seem to make sense. I'll say it again, yours and Jeremy's are the best I've seen. Perhaps some design cues from both would make the ultimate belt grinder. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's.

I realize I'm late to the party but great video!! I appreciate the specs. Am I crazy or is that a big pair of Bahco/Snap-On pipe wrench pliers on the wall behind you? I have 3 pairs of those I absolutely love them. No other tools I own grip grip as well as they do.

Hi Filip, I got my belts from a local hardware supplier called Lasaulec. Don't no if this company also exist in Germany. But I think there would be many online shops that can deliver to Germany. The brand is Flexovit (50x200). I have no experince with other brands and haven't used this one a lot. So a can not compare this brand to others. Greetings from the Netherlands and take care in these strange times (btw, my girlfriends family is from Michelstadt and I travel to Germany every 2-3 weeks. Hope there won't be a complete lockdown). Thanks for the details. On a more important note, how can I buy an all metric tape. I work in the architectural steel industry in Canada. Most engineered drawing are in metric. Because in Canada we live in two world, imperial and metric, your tape measure use graduated in both systems. Does not work so well when you want to read the tape from the “wrong side”. Wondering if you could help me out with purchasing a 100% metric tape from Europe. Would love to support you directly with this. Thanks
