2X72 Belt grinder small wheel modification

Not sure why it took me so long to make this simple modification to my small wheel holder.

Great video! Cold rolled steel is much more precise with the tolerances than hot rolled steel. Also, much more expensive! You’re right.

I bought one of those attachments where you put another small wheel over the original. I think I used it for about 6 months. In fact, while watching this video, I had to go check to make sure I was right, might have to start using it again, hmmm... Hope all is well, take it easy.

I've gotten in the habit of just chucking the taps in drill press after I drill the appropriate hole, turn drill press on, add cutting fluid and pull the handle. Shut off drill press at appropriate depth, then manually spin the church to extract the tap. I've done ½-13 in 1½ solid steel bar no issues. Probably wouldn't go below ¼-20. Love the "back of the mind" projects that work out perfectly and make life easier 👌

I ended up with an Ameribrade 2x72. If you order their small wheel attachment, you can choose 0, 1, or 2 deflector wheels. I just went with one because it gets it down 90% of the way.

Excellent idea! Is the fact that the abrasive side is running against your new wheel caused any problems? I realize the wheel is spinning, but I wonder if it's still wearing down the aluminum a bit?

Just my opinion to why it should not be done like this but I may be wrong please correct me if so, The obvious that stands out would be the grit side of the belt will start eating into the added wheel and any foreign matter on the belt will just cause more damage to the out side of the wheel, Have you noticed this issue or not, because i wanted to do this to my machine but for the issue stated above that may occur I am not sure

it is way overpriced. start with a file jig and sandpaper. (or a 1x30 if you REALLY want a grinder)
