Dear Brian, regarding vinegar, there are two varieties available through your local supermarket. One is “Cooking” vinegar and the other is “Cleaning” vinegar. The difference is a doubling factor of the acidity. I had loads of old tools that I had purchased and wanted to spruce them up to remove rust and give some shine. I loaded a bucket load with cooking vinegar and left it for a few days. Nothing, Nix, Nada. I tossed this vinegar out and replaced it with “Cleaning” vinegar for three days. Result: bubble and squeak on top and my pieces were coated with a fine black ooze. With a bulky cloth I could simply wipe off the ooze to reveal a dull base. The next part was a complete accident. I wanted to brush some resistant parts and found my only wire brush which happened to be solid brass bristles brush. Where I brushed a gold patina replaced the rust. With a few vigorous brushes my entire piece {a 3” tapping bit|} had a beautiful gold appearance. Sometimes you get lucky.

Bryan , William with Shade Tree Gunsmithing Morristown Tn. I had never heard of House Machines until I sold some metal to a man that said he made House Grinders. My BAD, It was painted up pretty but it was a piece of Junk . I have watched your Vedios and for 3 days I have been taking the slack out of it . I pray that when the motor gets here it will work . Watching your Vedios I see you have a passion for your work, I wish that I would of known about your grinders before I got Screwed, Young Man keep up your passion and the Fantastic work you do. P.S. Hey Brian, if you're having an issue with metric bearings in the overseas contact wheels, most bearing manufacturers make and metric O.D bearing with a inch type I.D. eg 6203-5/8" (40mm O.D. and a 5/8" I.D. very simple to change out from the original (china etc). This would be a relatively inexpensive modification. Cheers from Australia

Is there a way to use the Generation 4 grinder in the horizontal position in conjunction with the TRmaker small wheel set up, but with a work table? Having a notched out table for the vertical small wheel would be slick! I’m trying to figure this out, but the work rest tooling arm interferes with the wheel bolt on the TRmaker.

Simple solution for the contact wheel attachment bolt... Since you're building a new tooling arm for it anyway, just drill and tap for the metric bolt. No point to searching for a 1/2" bolt, a 13mm bolt is basically the same size, just a different tap.

My understanding of the 10" wheels is that the serrations have less to do with airflow, and more to do with surface area and grind consistency. By having gaps in your rubber, you decrease surface area and, therefore, increase force applied to the surface area left. (More cut for the same pressure/time.)The problem is, if you have perpendicular grooves and contact patches across the wheel, and you're grinding something thinner than two contact patches wide, you can start getting chatter on your part. By using diagonal grooves in your wheel, your work piece is always supported by at least two contact patches on the wheel.
@HouseMadeUS
@HouseMadeUS 3 жыл бұрын
Makes sense. Have you used both styles? Flat and grooved?
@jamesjefferson9
@jamesjefferson9 3 жыл бұрын
@@HouseMadeUS I've only used grooved for grinding (we only have a grooved wheel at work.) I can tell you that with small parts, if you angle the part to match the angle of the grooves, you'll have a tough time keeping control of your finish.

Nice video and great attachment for small wheel grinding. I notice your design for the material rest bar is under the wheels instead of on the left side of the 2" main bar tube. It looks like??? the lower 2" roller would prevent the use of your material rest plate holder(s) when utilizing this particular setup. Probably most of your work is freehand and it is not a big deal. Let's talk about the light, it's 110 right? So it can't really be direct wired into the grinders power unless you run a neutral wire when you wire the unit to building power? Is there a unit that would allow you to wire it 220 with no neutral? I picked up my metal today, I had local friend cut them at their shop, I just had them cut up a 4x8 sheet of .375. Hell I didn't even count the kits, I think there are 6. One for me, one for Dad, one for my buddy Dan, and one for Chritter. "drive wheel / cylinder" whose shaft screws into the motor shaft without removing the big drive wheel. then up front, like with the TR jib, a selection of driven cylinders so the belt path is only the two small cylinders, no need for the other wheels "step down" from the triangular path for belt tensioning (with no tension wheel), just pull the tool holding tube forward and tighten. here's the idea of "power file" with an angle grinder kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKunkoR6YsxkbJo&ab_channel=CosmasBauer
