@@kool2610 it certainly is, if you want reliable long term cooling. If you want looks and more performance, water cooling is good, but custom tubing would be the better option probably. Average AIOs to mig-high end ones, depending on the size tend to be almost on pair with an NH-D15. But size is definitely a major factor there. More metal, more cooling, if the fans can keep up ofc. Fin density and everything

For 1080p gaming when your cpu and memory is always the bottleneck what would be better -high bandwith, decent timings -lower bandwith tight timings I'm talking especially about 0.1% lows not average fps or maximum.

Games like tight timings. Just target under 40ns aida64 latency and youll get the best performance.

@@m4nu507 thnx, you benchmarked it? If you could choose between 3600mhz cl 14 Or 4000mhz cl 16 what should you choose? Both memory speeds are around 8ns latency so that's good comparable

@@Poppaai the difference in fps between the 2 would be minimal but a well tuned 3600 cl14 will give you excellent performance. I used to run 3600 14-14-14-28 with tight tertiarys rtls/iols, now run 4000 15-15-15-30 and get around 1% better performance in games, and this starts becoming negligible whenever you upgrade from 1080p to 1440p

Bullzoid, can you make an overview video how good/likely are the 12th gen Intel boards in BCLK overclocking. What is an average overclock to be expected. How much is DDR5 RAM impacted. With the upcoming Non-k Intel CPUs it might be interesting how much overclocking is achivable on these parts for a intermediate purchase and a later upgrade after some years?

Still sux, since the boards that feature the ext gen are way to costly and if Intel happens to force the feature out of the bios, you rather won't get updates of the bios for better RAM stability in the future when the XMP profiles go up and up.

I have 2 sets of Patriot Viper Steel 16GB DDR4 Kit (2x8GB)( 4400MHz RAM CL19 - 32GB and MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk WIFI DDR4 with i9 12900K. I would appreciate it a lot, if you would be able to test that memory configuration on MSI Z690 motherboard for gaming ring (daily usage). I have copied your setup from the video with MSI Pro (2x16GB DDR4-3900 14-15-15-28-2T stable on the MSI Pro Z690-A with a 12900K / S8B) and it looks very stable with 46ns latency. I am wondering if this is the ideal setup/the right one for my memory configuration. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Look for his video on Unify board. Z490 unify and 4x8gb 4400 viper, but anyway don't stress test without loading your gpu, unless you are not stressing whole system this overclock won't be stable

I think you should grab some DDR5 and clock it at 3200MHz and see how low you can get the latency’s

All this overclocking makes no sense in case with normal gpu. Will it be gaming or rendering it makes no sense because it will crash. The only way to stress test rams is stress test your gpu at the same time + anta777 and case should be closed..

the only thing I haven't tested is the 6 layer DDR5 boards from MSI. the 6 layer DDR4 and 8 layer DDR5 are on par with gigabyte's versions.

It's a pain to work with on intel memory controllers. Micron 16Gb RevB is perfectly fine but RevE just has weird issues.

if I recall, the only interesting thing about rev-e was it was in single rank 32GB DIMMs or something ridicules capacity for just HWbot OCing. I'm also guessing the 64GB Dimms only do well at "hardcore running at stock" in a render farm or some setup like that with a need for all the GB you can get on faster clocking CPUs than what xeons offer all-core. I do remember there was some BZ vids featuring OCing with the smaller rev-e stuff (8G & 16G), that was many cups of coffee ago. realy sounds like 12th gen is just meh with ddr4 OCing compared to zen3/10th-gen, till bios or something improves. yeah, looks like it was 2x8GB revE 5000 on a B550 board in one vid way back in 2020.

Also thought I had heard in one of the videos it was easier to drive and could attain similar timings to b-die, just lose on tRCD. Could be wrong on the chips I was thinking of though.
