With the amount of 3.0 TDI Amarok's we tune and work on, you'd probably be surprised to hear that this is the first V6 Manual we have had in... They really are that rare!
After carrying out a custom remap Ryan took this for a spin and voiced his opinion on this engine and gearbox combo!

Hey mate, former vw mech here, and fellow manual amarok v6 owner, from Australia. Mate, had mine for 2.5 years now, and I'm sorry, but you can slam it through gears, and they do come with rear diff lock here. They're also BETTER off road then the auto due to their proper low range. They're also more fun to drive, as you can fish tail them up the road in the wet, and on some occasions, drift them around corners. So I'd suggest don't turn your nose up at them, just learn the car more. We've tuned them here as a completely stock car, to 780rwnm and 200rwkw. They have fantastic potential.

I didn't doubt it was better off road but the build quality is not the same between the car I drive daily, and this one.

@@DarksideDevelopments well ones built in Argentina and the higher spec is built in Germany. The manuals also only come in the core spec which is basically a tradesman's hack. They're not built to be plush. But they are very tough mechanically. We don't see issues with them here (manuals) anywhere near as much as autos.

I can imagine the Autos running way hotter on the tough tracks. Ours is a tow rig really

@@DarksideDevelopments we don't find they run hot, but with no low range, and the traction control being problematic in sand reversing, even with it off, it still kicks in, lots of guys get bogged.

Hey mate - question with your V6 Manual - do you have dramas with the flywheel rattling coming onto boost? Mine is tuned but below 2K it shudders fairly bad - I had them reduce the tuine by around 10% to prevent this. Think my clutch may be going tho. Any suggestions here?

These are way betterer for offroad reliability, If you break front/rear axles you can alwas find way out with only front/rear drive, easy to jump start and so on.. If they would have t-case like l200/triton That would be perfection (2H-4A-4H-4L) Waiting video for that v12 swap :))

If i started chatter on this video i got a question. what's your opinion on the 2.0 bitdi auto gearbox? it's still a ZF product but i saw torque limit at 500 ish NM ? are they reliable and good as the zf8 in the 3.0 ? still looking to purchase and i'd rather stick to the 2 liter cause it's more common and easier to fix here. but i want to stick with awd version don't like the box with rwd only idea, so that's why I ask is it any good like the 2014-2016 year model auto?

One of the managers has a 2013 model - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/vw-amarok-csha-2-0-bitdi-al450-8-speed-automatic/?fbclid=IwAR0IldmpZmlo124Lqtx8bTlBl2rIZzYjiw28STyEwb_j7iyeVr0auyoRPkw They are good and reliable, it is limited to around the 500nm yes. They also tend to do around 10-20% less power than they are booked at as well. We've got a blog here for the 2.0BiTdi - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/Blog/20-bitdi-engines-what-to-know

Not up to your usual level of inspiring video where the pursuit of power and tractability are upper most in your thoughts, but then life is not like that....which why I like your videos, too much positivity is toxic, keep it real! Just 6 cylinders missing on this one I see, closer to the prize though and model line! 😂

Sir, is it possible to easily separate the engine/transmission wiring harness from the rest of the car's harness? I'm wanting to transplant a 2016 BMW inline 6 diesel along with it's 8 speed transmission and gauge cluster into an older vehicle.

Aussies cooking clutches all over the place when towing or driving hard with a tune. They are definitely better for very slow steep offroading though, vast majority of people just never really do what it does do better, 99% people that offroad in a amarok is still better off with the auto, they are just that brilliant
