I knew Woody, and LOVED him. He worked hard to fight for children where broken, like howard cassady's family ,,,, and great men. I loved all of them.

Being born and raised in Ohio, I grew up during the "Woody"" era and admired this man. The day he died was my 22nd birthday. This ruined the WHOLE day for me!

Woody won 5 national championships, not 2

National media really did not like this guy, portraying him a raging tyrant. Unfortunate they could not have at least acknowledged all the charitable work Woody did out of the spotlight. Archie Griffin’s brief interview in here speaks more to his character than what ABC is trying to portray here.

Sorry, somebody who blows his stack and hits people many times (not just the one famous incident) is a bad-tempered jerk, no matter what he accomplishes for his team. You can't punch reporters and then say, "I get a pass because I have so many wins and I raised lots of money for charity"

Woody lived his life on demanding excellence, from everyone and from himself. Certainly a goal probably not sustainable, but he tried, he was one of a kind

He thought of himself as George Patton. Gee. Another egomaniac. No wonder this moron was run out of football after attacking that Clemson player. Good riddance!

What a total CHEAP SHOT on a GREAT man who was so much MORE (as is any man) than his “low points” in life. Terrible reporting!

Loved watching Ohio St. under coach Hayes when i was growing up. Loved his intensity and will to win. Never be another like him or coach Bobby Knight either.

I sometimes liken Woody's Gator Bowl debacle to William F. Buckley Jr.'s momentary emotional blow-up at Gore Vidal - also nationally televised - during the '68 DNC in Chicago. Both men - public conservatives and patriots in their respective ways - let the moment get the better of them - and both regretted it deeply. 🏉 🇺🇲

That kid from Clemson should have never intercepted that pass if you can't take a punch you shouldn't be in football

He was a good coach, but there’s been plenty of good coaches, better than woody was. Men that never carried on like him, men like bear Bryant, John McKay,Darrell royal. All from that era that coched without the sideline circus.

I’d argue there’s NEVER been a “better” coach and rarely has there ever been a more HONORABLE man.
@TedHayes67 Жыл бұрын
Agree. Woody also doesn’t get the credit for recruiting black athletes way before coaches like Bear Bryant! Also never took huge pay raises, and by the way he won 5 nattys, not 2.

@ you really know very LITTLE about the man as a whole. I suggest you do some research on his life and the MANY MANY kind acts he did! He was SO MUCH MORE than the Clemson incident.
