What a shame. Impossible to understand why the US umpires were allowed to judge the game where the US team played. This is a joke. I assume that MLB originally created WBC to show the US beating all the participating counties. The plan, however, didn't go that way as they underestimated those teams, and the umpires were eventually involved to misjudge on some very crucial games. As the result, US disgraced the sport and the world watched it. As Sadaharu Oh said after the game, "It is sad and difficult to believe what could have happened in the United States, where baseball was born."

当時は小学生で試合経過が既にうろ覚えだったけど、イチローの先制打に湧いて、審判の判断(誤審)が良く理解できず唖然としていた記憶が確かにあった。 こうして公式から当時を振り返られるととても嬉しいですね。 第一回・第二回のスター性ある選手たちは、きっとお爺ちゃんになっても忘れようがない。
