Ya, truly the ultimate boat for me if cost was no issue. I also like the FPB's, but a Fleming gives you the option to go faster for shorter trips when people have to get back to work and civilization. Can you imagine having one of these and the lifestyle where you can just decide to cruise around Patagonia and then head to Antarctica and then New Zealand and then Micronesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and then explore the wild Arctic seas of northern Russia. Then finish it off (no pun intended) with St. Petersburg and Scandinavia. One life is not enough. -- It will never happen for me. To anyone reading this, if you are young and single, if you make it a life goal, it can happen...

All these things are nice to know if your thinking of buying the car/boat, but you cannot invent a new way to say "it has 4 tyres and boot space". Dollars, mate. Nowhere near 3.3 million quid
@silentpartner62254 жыл бұрын
@@ΤΗΞΙηΣΑζΤΞΚδ For this one but the owner cheaped out on the engines. Standard are 800 HP Mans. Mr Fleming does some of the best yachting videos and is very forthcoming in the comments section. He told me that even though the largest engine option offered is the 800HP they have and will fit the Man 1200s but it's much more expensive. A Fleming 65 800HP X 2 cost about 4.4 million dollars fully trimmed out American style (our motto is that anything worth doing is worth overdoing), with the 1200Hp engines it would be closer to 5 million dollars. They're very expensive but far better built than most. I worked for a hydraulic company in Seattle for years and we worked on a lot of yachts. Sea trials were the best. I once spent 3 days on a Fleming 55 cruising the San Juan islands and it was unreal. At 10 knots...total quiet. No squeaking, no creaking and no engine hum. I have no idea how they manage that and the boat was over 20 years old. We were upgrading the stabilizers.... kind of prototyping an at rest stabilizing system for the owner who planned to market it for sub 60 foot yachts. Personally I think he had more money than sense but he was a helluva nice guy and I got 3 of the better days of a lifetime out of it. Sorry to ramble on but I'm quarenteening because my idiot neighbor came down with the Covid and I was pretty much on a 24 hour drunk celebrating the election. I met and had a great conversation with Tony at the Seattle Boat show several years ago. I was closely inspecting a Fleming Yacht from the dock and he invited me aboard. We ended up having a great conversation about ties we both had to a small town in Scotland. I got a tour of the boat and was clear from his tour that the boat was luxurious because of the quality and not the flash. He knew I was an engineer who did not have the budget for the boat, but still took the time to talk with me and sent me info on the yachts. If I ever have a spare few million, I would buy one of his yachts in a heartbeat. I hear he is "retired" so hope he is doing well and able to enjoy time on one of his creations.

@tonyb77794 жыл бұрын
@Richard Boote I know you like big, but the 85 is just a concept at present. No sea trials, no tests, unknown quantity. An 85 would require more people or crew which defeats the object of a two person trawler yacht. I thought the owner was Tony Fleming, Ian Fleming is dead and was an author (James Bond). Tony has never intimated that he wants to go bigger, he is very happy with the 65 as he can use this short handed.
@tonyb77794 жыл бұрын
I agree, an 85 would require more people or a crew. It is just too big for two persons. The 65 is about as big as you would want. Also, there is that wonderful option of having auxilary helm at the stern to enable easy docking. An 85 would just be too big, why go for such a big yacht for just two people?
