absolutely correct Mozzman. the secrets of smooth, non bouncy landings. Good smooth landings are something I take pride in and practiced many times until i got it right. its not simply a bounce, bounce, bounce arrival. haha. it also helped that I too was brought up around aircraft. My father was and still is a flying instructor with some 12000 hours instructing time.

Sad to say the guy passed away so please keep this in mind when it comes to future comments ;-) But seriously cameras have come a long ways since then and besides that they are older people who could care less about having the latest gadget etc. Think about it for a min,what camera did the average 70 year old grandma/pa have 6-7 years ago ;-)

A lot of plane, a lot of noise, but not a lot of poke. You've just enough to get it airborne, you need at least 50% more engine. It's almost slow motion. Nevertheless, a very good effort with still lots of potential.

I agree completely. I'm an ATP with B-737, B-757/767, CE-500 type ratings, CFII, MEI, A&P, and I'm sure you're a pilot too. When I'm at the RC flying field and comment about a "real" airplane flying over, the RC guys are offended. "It's not real, it's full scale". Bullshit! Unless you're in it and flying it, you're not a "Pilot". These are toys (and, admittedly, I own a few too).
@ArnoldsDesign10 жыл бұрын
Nice plane. I owned an LMA 75% cub at one time. Dimensions are about the same, along with hp, and gross. Rotax 277 had 2.58:1 reduction, though, with a 60" prop. It wasn't rc. It was an ultralight. You might be able to fly this with a pilot on board.

BaumTronics Elektroonika Yes but for example.....a model....like Cindy Crawford or Cheryl Teigs.....I would want a full size model.....not a smaller version. And if we make it a 200% scale model, would it be still a model or something else? I guess I took too many silly pills this morning. Sorry.

I imagine that's a nice model, you did well to film it without showing anything of interest, great video of a dot in the sky.. seems a lot of effort in building the thing and no effort what so ever in showing it.
@onfin3al612 жыл бұрын
If you make a plane so big enough to ride in it,then ride in it. I think it would be much easier to work the radio from inside than out side. I have over 2,000hrs in real one's,much easier than radio.
@ReptileRescue8 жыл бұрын
That IS NOT a 3/4 scale. It looks to be half scale or just slightly above 50%. I owned a 3/4 scale Cub. It was called a Fisher FP 202 Koala, and it was a homebuilt experimental aircraft, single seater, and piloted by an actual human. A full scale J3 with full wingspan (not clipped versions) has a wingspan of about 35ft. This would make a 3/4 scale 26ft. wingspan. This model is nowhere near that. Additionally, the larger variant in the background of the departing shot is not a full scale J3 Cub either. That's an N-3 Pup or something to that effect, which WOULD be about 3/4 scale, as it is single seater and obviously shorter than a true Cub. This makes the model appear larger scale than it really is when placed next to a homebuilt aircraft which is the one that is actually 3/4 scale.
@srnunan47838 жыл бұрын
yeah i owned a supapup and it was also 3/4 scale of cub and this model doesnt look as big as my ac was

Seriously it was filmed by older people almost 7 years ago and I know it's hard to believe but not everyone cares about the latest greatest tech. The other thing is we forget how fast things have progressed.....Seriously if you could find one of the early GoPro's being sold from his van it was either using 35mm film for still pics or the first Digital Hero would take a 10 second craptacular video clip.......So this considering the length and lighting this was not that bad for the era.It was middle of the road tech.........The highest capacity SD card you could get was 32 gb and they were $300 until they came out with the 64gig cards at around 400$ if you could even find one.........People quickly forget how much memory used to cost,I mean a year or so before this was shot it was around $160 per gig.It was groundbreaking news when it dropped to about $60 per gig back then.

One of the things that I find the most off putting in video's like this is the pathetic throttle and thus attitude and speed control. C'mon fellas settle the aircraft into the landing attitude and then control the descent with throttle as you would if it were full sized. Something I have done always (possibly because I hold a PPL, and the way I teach people to fly RC, and only Mode 2 !!

I have owned 5 J3 Cubs and can tell you two things. First your model is not scale. All the proportions, especially your landing gear, are all wrong. Secondly, a full scale cub has a 36 foot wingspan +/- a bit. 3/4 scale would need a 27 foot wingspan. Enjoy your model but careful on the claims.
