**Solid knee walker, a few minor complaints**
TL/DR: This knee walker is well built and nicely adjustable. The assembly process could be better documented, and I'm not happy with its braking ability.
Pros:
o Comes mostly assembled
o Handlebars and knee plates can be adjusted for a wide range of body sizes
o Rated for 300 pounds capacity
o Shock absorber might be helpful
Cons:
o Assembly is a little challenging
o Does not brake well on carpet or slick surfaces
This knee walker comes partially assembled, but there is still a fair amount of work to do before you actually have a working device. It took me about twenty minutes to unpack and put it together. The instructions are line drawings and they are fairly difficult to follow. Just as an example, I installed the front wheels upside down on my first try, and there is a metal band around the front post that is still a complete mystery.
I would also like to see the instructions give details on how to adjust the knee pad height and handlebar height for optimal use. As it is I kind of just had to guess at what seems comfortable, but it's hard to say if I'm really doing it right.
The shock absorber under the knee pad is supposed to help provide a smoother ride, but I'm not sure it is very effective - it's quite stiff and really doesn't give way very easily, so its effect seems minimal to me.
The braking system on this scooter is also handicapped by the wheels. The slick surface on the wheels means that even if the brakes have locked up the wheel, it still slides quite easily over carpet or smooth flooring. It will work okay on rough surface such as concrete or road pavement, but inside the brakes are going to be less effective than you like. I would have liked to see a way to lock the brakes to hold the scooter in place on an inclined surface.
The overall build is great, the scooter is sturdy, looks good, and I was able to use the knee pad with comfort. Despite the 4 star righting, I feel confident that if you buy this scooter, it will do the job you want pretty well.
