Owners of any gmc vehicles with this engine should start a law suit against gmc. It's a engineering screw up that causes all this problem. Falling timing chain, bend valves, etc. This poor design its causing big money spent for gmc car owners.

I have modified to make the holes bigger. Yes it worked as no oil in the intake tube. However, there will be another issue later. Since this PCV holes allow oil pumped through and finally end up in the manifold. As I experienced with rough idle after a few weeks, the air intake tube is still dry but when I removed the throttle body, a lot of oil found in the intake manifold right after the throttle body. I have replaced a new redesign valve cover gasket. I finally installed oil catch cans which I have seen my Acadia getting better gas mileage and responsive. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3aodnysq9Klh7c

Ring blow by is the problem, causes increased crankcase pressure. Get the rings to seal better is the real fix.
@mastertech5036 Жыл бұрын
Low tension rings is the real problem. Ran into an article by GM explaining why the oil burning & blowby years ago. They were forced to go with low tension rings because of less drag & lower fuel emmissions, but obviously causes oil burning.

So, this PCV valve stands for remove gases from crankcase? in the normal engine no gases will be in crankcase
@rschneid19963 жыл бұрын
Not true. Almost all gasoline and diesel engines have some combustion chamber gases in the crankcase. The gases blow by the piston rings and into the crankcase. The PCV valve is designed to vent those gases and remove the pressure buildup in the crankcase.

Got your drill sizing messed up, "top part requires 7/64in and the smaller bottom holes 7/64in". Why it's taking so long for the US to adopt the metric system is baffling especially since every educated US engineer I've ever worked with is familiar with it and recognises its benefits. Anyway, back on topic. Drill the two smaller (bottom) holes 2mmØ and the single (top) hole 2.5mmØ. Of course this goes against GMs current tech advice that has introduced a rocker cover gasket that blocks off the rocker cover chamber completely and allows only 3 small 2mm holes into the chamber itself. My advice, it won't hurt to drill the holes out but more important to just check it's clean. And changing the oil more frequently is always a good thing.

I would’ve tried to find a straight through fitting to replace the factory “valve” than drilling it out. I also would’ve increased the ID of the hose to match the fitting - that crankcase pressure, as implemented by the factory, is a hinderance to fuel economy and power, but as shown here, helps them repair and sell a LOT of vehicles
