For a studen who is relatively good at quant reasoning,in the main gmat exam--which part of reasoning do you recommend to take up fisrt(quant/verbal)

This is one of philosophical questions. There are many schools of thought - some go through both Q and V at the same time. Others start with weaker area, and some start with stronger. My suggestion is to start with an area you are most confident with - it minimizes frustration, builds confidence, and allows you to practice and learn tricks for you greater enemy (be that quant or verbal). You feel the battle is shorter since you are done with half of it, and the end is nearer. The important part is not to abandon COMPLETELY your stronger suit (quant in your case) during the more prolonged time of dealing with the weaker area (verbal in this case). Good Luck! In answer choice C for the critical reasoning question on tobacco consumption. Answer C makes a generic statement about the number of people chewing tobacco increasing. Since we know that this could also include teenagers as well, how can we tell that this statement explains the decrease in the number of "Adults" consuming tobacco?

You may be carrying over information you learned in answer choice B to the answer choice C. We do not know anything about teenagers from the statement or answer choice C. We know that C covers "non-smokers" and "people who quit smoking" so this would include everyone - all humans.

@@gmatclub Yes, precisely. Since from C we can only talk about humans in general, wouldn't that be insufficient in explaining the decrease in the number of adults smoking, as asked in the question?

@@ranjiniraohs1041 No... don't think so it seems pretty clear explaining that tobacco sales increased because of sniff and chewing tobacco consumption going up even though smoking adult numbers have declined.
