GPA and MCAT is important but relating your story through your application and how it shaped you is also very very important. If you can’t show your passion and what you learned from these experiences, then you’ll probably be rejected even with a perfect MCAT or gpa. So we gotta get some writing classes guys lol. At least that’s what I have learned in the past 1 month after going through all these applications. (I’m in highschool and will join college in a few months so I wanted to go prepared)

Love the takeaway. It’s really awesome that you’re thinking intentionally a couple years ahead. Perhaps the writing is an issue, but perhaps it’s also just folks doing things they don’t enjoy (leading to poor writing).

This was really great. I’m applying to dental school next cycle and I found this extremely helpful. Please keep doing these in depth reviews. They are very beneficial for all applicants. Thank you 🙏🏾

This is so helpful. I just got my MCAT score and I got a 517. Next step is applying to med school! It’s so helpful to know that MCAT, while important, is placed in the context of everything else. I think with my experiences, I can really flesh out who I am, and place my identity on my application beyond my MCAT score.

Excellent breakdown and explanation on how you dissected his application and said it in the nicest way possible. I knew something was wrong with how the applicant presented himself.

I appreciate it Farida! :) There are definitely weaknesses to note and certainly let's not forget some of the strengths this applicant demonstrated. Are folks interested in more of these application breakdowns? Please let me know!

Question: I've watched some of Dr.Gray's application reviews as well and I noticed that while he urges students to stay away from phrases such as the ones you had highlighted in the first two experience descriptions you see them very differently. Is there anything behind this nuance?

Can u tell us a little about strokes? How it’s exists how to prevent, how to diagnosed, anything we can do to prevent it? My dad died from it and I fear for my little brothers life because he takes after him!

Wow thank you for sharing this! As a pre-med, should we avoid the generic phrases all together? To what extent? Are they okay if they are paired with stories?
@MichaelMinhLeMD
@MichaelMinhLeMD 9 ай бұрын
Absolutely! :) Generic phrases are never a problem if they're supported with stories that support them. Then, they're not really "generic" because the reader knows exactly where you're coming from!
