Oh character creation. A friend and I are known for deleting characters after a few lvls because they didn't look right. Aion was worse, we got to lvl 10 on each char before deleting them, because the start zone was so dark, that we couldn't really see how they looked. And I did the same in Skyrim. So yeah, character creation is very important :P

Most default faces in games, especially for females are awful. I remember Mass Effect 1. Male Shepards face was motion captured and modeled after a real person, female shepards wasn't, and it was awful. The duck licks, the over spaced eyes.

It's not that hard, I made a pretty character from the first preset when the 10 hour trial was available since I have Origin Access. The highly negative gifs and videos about MEA cloud the fact that you actually have more attractive options to choose from than the original trilogy. To me it looks like any somewhat attractive Shepherd looks almost exactly the same. BUT, I totally get still wanting more options, and the ones complaining the most will hopefully get us more options in the future without mods.

The Freeman Initiative there is unattractive and then there is monster. It is so easy to make a monster in ME:A. Trust me it to me 8 tries just to get to unattractive

I stuck with the default name of "Sara", and I'm glad I did. She's now often referred to in-game as "Sara" rather than just "Ryder" or "Pathfinder". That kinda annoyed me a tiny bit about Shepard, that not even her/his love interest ever referred to her/his first name (though I thoroughly understand why)

Wow, all of these looked great (and thanks so much for the advice on setting the eyes deeper in the skull and making the lips bigger to compensate for funky animations.) That third Ryder looked SO much better than any I've seen yet! You were totally right about how that face seems to have better emotion and more realism...the skin texture helps, but there's something different happening in the expression that makes her SO much nicer to look at...she's definitely got the most real feel. Awesome video - so great to see so much work put into some very different looking renditions...not just one "dis is me pretty Ryder"

I spent 45min making my Ryder, can't get over how great she looks. I toned down her cheek bones so her smiles looked less forced and it made a huge difference.

Great job.. What I love is how they make your father the same race and color. So regardless of which archetype you use, you know where you come from. That bit was well done. Don't forget to change your twin or you could be a black girl with a white boy as your twin brother. Hey it could happen hehe. Nicely done thanks for the suggestions. I liked number 2 the best

You can't make a Ryder that looks like you because the character creator doesn't let Ryder have pale skin.

Might be the best faces i've seen, favourited to come back to look at for when i get it and do my Fem Ryder playthrough. Think the third character face might look more expressive because of what you mentioned, the skin seems more textured which maybe makes the facial animations more obvious because you can see detail in the face moving. This game does have a lack of facial movement for some characters but for others it may just be really subtle and hard to see because of textures.

Generally found the character creator one of the most upsetting parts of this game. Other than a few glitches though, I've enjoyed this ME. Realy hope Bioware actually go through and patch the character creator as they have been suggesting recently.

There is a way to change your old Ryder's look, it's on tempest you go the the medbay and there's a table in there where you can reset all skills and then on the table next to that you can change your Ryder and your sister/brothers look :)

Just found your channel after searching for ideas for female Ryder's face. You are such a cutie! I don't mean that in some leering sort of way. I discovered the same thing with the lips. Always make them bigger in character creation than you'd like because they will be smaller in game, especially when they are talking as the animation thins them out. My first character was the same face base you used here first, and in my second playthrough I'm using my customized face 9. What I'd REALLY have liked to do is use the face you and I used first but use the more refined eyebrows of face 9 on them. I want to be able to change the eyebrows!
