it's sad, yeah. unfortunately, Karlach was such a late addition that the posters were made before she was. and hell, even within the short time she had before release, she was completely rewritten. so even if she had been on the poster, we might've gotten a picture of "gritty realism" Karlach instead of "precious cinnamon roll" Karlach ^^;

I always thought Karlach is such a hidden companion. Because one of the first things I’ve heard about the game, it’s one streamer telling about his experience of killing her(because he sincerely thought as it was presented by Wyll at the very beginning : she’s a demon, kill her). And only after that guy realised she’s an actual companion, and you could save her. So, it’s interesting that not every beginner player knows she is one of main characters, and saving her is not that obvious

I only found out about his passing here. I'm devastated. He stole the show as Titus Pullo. If there were such a thing as an afterlife, it'd be fun to think of what they'd talk about if he ran into run into the real one! Real TP: you mean you never were a Centurio (*), but you fathered a child with Cleopatra? RS: no! this was me acting in a TV series, with a character of your name! Real TP: TV? (*) not wanting to hijack a video comment thread about Karlach, but for those who didn't have to learn Latin in school and read Caesar: Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo were 2 Centurions mentioned, vying for the position of Primipil (primus pilus, first spear, a top rank of Centurions, outranking others but below Legatus/general) and saving each other's lives in battle against the Gauls.

i always felt Astarion x Karlach makes a lot of sense. they can both relate to each others trauma more than the other companions having both been enslaved and forced to do terrible things against their will and their endings make perfect sense for a happy ending together. She has to go back to Avernus until they can find a solution for her heart but she doesn't have to do it alone and Astarion doesn't have to hide from the sun in Avernus and there's plenty of evil things he can kill down there so he can continue being an adventuring hero which he seems to enjoy. When you play as origin karlach he seems more than happy to go with her. Also Karlach, who wants nothing more than to be touched, becomes touchable just as astarion decides he wants to abstain from sex for a while. its a very tragic slow burn and then they finally have sex in the graveyard. Their stories fit together like a puzzle. it feels thematically perfect for both of them.

Unfortunately, as Astarion origin, you have to become the vampire ascendant or mind flyer for this ending =\ otherwise he is spooked by sun and she dies alone =(

@@J.Tarrou that was my first playthrough, I played Astarion as I wanted to sneak the whole game and Karlach liveness and openness are so magnetic that wasn't even a choice and the final I got was devastating, and then I reloaded on the last save before Pale elf quest is finished and run as Ascendant and went to hell.

@@pregenitor yeah Larian needs to make the ending at the docks more flexible. same thing happens with origin Laezel (and Tav romancing Laezel) flying off on her dragon. if you romance laezel and go to fight vlaakith karlach automatically dies. they should at least let the nearest companion act decide her fate. so if the player character leaves before karlach dies you can temporarily control shadowheart or wyll to convince karlach to go to avernus.

Larian absolutely knocked it out the park with the cast for BG3, and Samantha/Karlach is right up there with the very best companions from any game I've played. I kinda thought of her as a mix of Garrus and Tali from the Mass Effect series, the gruff/cynical/hurt soldier part of Garrus and the sweetness of Tali all mixed up into one amazing character.

i think the best part of bg3 is how well the writing meshed with the actors. there seems to be a little bit of the actors in all the companions which makes them feel so real and alive. everything in this game just came together and made magic.

Even though my main character's love interest is the githyanki fighter (who yearns for gentle touch) it's Karlach who's on the immediate team all the time - precisely for the line delivery, and the voice :). In fact, the voice made me want my MC to be with Karlach, but somehow the dialogues didn't lead us this way, though I chose a tiefling for his race specially with this in view. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

i love karlach!!! she's in love with my character right now, she said "oh i'd love to touch you more than anything, but i'm afraid i'd burn you" She makes me sad, happy, excited, surprised, and so much more, everytime she talks and everytime she looks at me :) you did an amazing job with the acting as well as the gameplay! I've heard something bad happens to her at the end no matter what, i'm hoping she doesn't die, i'm only in act 1 right now, i'm level 5 but she's tearing through everything! I fixed her infernal heart a bit with the infernal iron in the emerald grove, but we apparently must wait until getting to baldur's gate in order to have dammon fix it again... i love her! alot of people go for shadow heart, but not me, she's pretty also, but the personality is the main thing for me! Karlach is fun, friendly, happy and more, while Shadow heart seems to be more withdrawn, mad, strict and more... i understand alot of it are caused by shar but still. I'd love to find a woman like Karlach outside of the game (obviously without the infernal engine/heart lol) if she had a horn it'd be different but still would love her! Great job voice acting Karlach, Samantha Beart!
