I had a cat once called Porkchop who loved to steal drinks off of the coffee table while my friends and I partied. I did not encourage him but he was pretty smart. Then in the morning he loved stealing sips of coffee. He was quite the character. I got him when he was about 2 weeks old and had to wake up every two hours and bottle feed him. He had been abandoned in a barn. I still miss Porkchop! 💔😥🐈

I had a friend whose cats would often denude his weed plants when they started getting that skunky smell. It was bad he had to fence off. All of this occurred indoors. The only conclusion was that the plant smell is similar to the Catnip plant.

I've seen dogs in Costa Rica tripping balls on toad venom. their pupils were massively dilated. At first try the young pup had a bit of an overdose and was drooling in the corner. We called the vet and he told us it was toad venom. couple days later the pup was seen with dilated pupils but this time was able to handle the trip and was having fun with the other two who were high af.

I am relatively new to your videos , you may already have done a video about squirrels and fermented crabapples . They love them and I see at lease 3-7 incidents each summer here of a drunk squirrel after eating an assumed to be fermented crabapple , the squirrels act super funny when drunk and can't ever in some cases get back into their trees , If you never saw this it is worth watching for . I won't intervene them either because it's nature , they will sleep it off somewhere .

A friend of mine Lucas has a cat named Agatha. Lucas is a heavy drinker and Agatha became the same as well. And this caused him troubles with laptops and money. Cause he used to leave open bottles of wine on the kitchen table next to a laptop. Then while he was sleeping deadly drunk, Agatha would jump on a table and knock down a bottle to get some wine. 2 laptops down! Now, Agatha lives with his parents in country house. Away from booze to drink and laptops to kill :)

Awesome series! There are some species of insects that get massively high in late summer because many of them switch to high carb diets at that time of year, which means - you guessed it - fermented fruit. In my experience (local yellow jacket wasps), they get buzzed (pun intended, you're welcome), form gangs, and become the neighborhood bullies, picking fights with anyone bigger than them, brawling, and being a rowdy nuisance.

Drunk as a Jackdaw! In Danmark we have the expression: "fuld som en allike" which means "drunk as a Jackdaw". I have never observed this directly, but the Jackdaw can allegedly become quite tame, and humans have occasionally helped an otherwise helpless Jackdaw. And if you leave a glass of some alcoholic beverage near the bird, the Jackdaw will get extremely drunk. My guess is that they'll rub it into their feathers and skin as an insecticide thus become intoxicated, either through breathing the alcoholic fumes or perhaps also by inadvertently swallowing some of it. And when they get drunk, they won't be able to stop this behaviour.

I watched some nature show on netflix a couple years ago, I don't recall the name of it, but I remember some part in South America (Brazil maybe?) where gangs of monkeys would steal bread and fruit from restaurants and peoples houses in this city, and I'm pretty sure they also would drink peoples leftover booze. Cockatoos and Gallahs get rolling drunk from fermented berries. Which they purposefully return to annually, on mass. Almost like a sort of coctoberfest. Hundreds of birds, screeching, squabbling over the best berry patches and falling out of trees a lot.They are hilarious to observe. As by the end of the day, they r literally falling over drunk, retching and passing out flat on their backs. Like teenagers at a dance party. Best Comedy show nature has to offer. They also finish tourists drinks in resorts up north in Queensland, with the same result.

In places like Lord Howe Island and Cable beach Resort. The outdoor bars are plagued with rolling drunk, Cockatoos and Parakeets. Who will be on your drink the moment you turn your back. Having diner in my parents garden I once had a wasp (yellowjacket) in my beer, once I got her out of my beer she was nearly unconcious, then tried to stand up, completely uncoordinated, walked visibly drunk and stumbling over her six legs around the table for a while, but after five minutes she managed to take care of her wings with her mandibles and flew away, but not in a straight line!!. From completely sledgehammered to airborne in about five minutes, that means that her liver metabolised alcohol very quickly! I hope she made it safely to her colony. It was quite an experience to be able to observe this whole process from close by, luckily noone in my family is afraid of wasps so we could enjoy this event together.

I saw a video on SciShow refuting many of your claims in terms of animals choosing to "get high" or that they even can get high. After trials where animals were given the choice of water or alcohol, most of them, if not all, chose the water. There was some other arguments about animals not having the enzymes to break down alcohol, hence fermented fruits don't have the effect one would expect. I don't know what is correct or not, but it is worth examining. I guess it may be somewhere in between both hypothesis, perhaps more for some than for others.
