My brother in law died from an overdose of fentanyl laced drugs.. He was making $240,000 per year and one of his co-workers introduced the drug to him and he used it..Just saying that to show its not low life junkies who pass,albeit he turned into a low life junkie! He was blowing through their savings and was going to take a mortgage out on their paid for home! He never was able to do this! He always did smoke marijuana since he was a teen,they say marijuana is safe and NOT a gateway drug,not true at all...Sadly he never made it to 50 years old,he left a family of 6 behind!! This drug not only gets kids but normal adults,he was a good guy besides starting this stupid drug for 3 years it was hell form my sister and my nephews and nieces...He died in front of them ALL...4 year old kids to teens!! Messed their lives up tenfold! So,I agree with your comment.sorry for going off with a story of my life! Get drugs off the street!!!

As a retired LE person with 58 years in the profession, I applaud Sheriff Judd for what he does and how he handles things in Polk County. There are many good sheriffs in this country but also some who could learn some things from Sheriff Judd. Polk County, Florida is so fortunate to have him. He is certainly an asset to the law enforcement community in the United States.

And within their official capacity, offering what? Sitting in the offices of the sheriff's dept. for a counseling session? Its not in their field of training nor job description. You can't imagine, obviously, the number of drug addict arrests that are made resulting in requests for psychiatric and addiction consults/observations referrals to hospitals and clinics. All, of course, at ours as taxpayers' expense. Polk county (FL) Sheriff Grady Judd has proven himself time and time again fulfilling his duty, over and above honorable expectation. Otherwise, how else do you think he's held his position, and the voting public's trust all these years? The Sheriff's office is the but the #2 branch of the law, the executive. Which means all they can do is enforce the law. Nothing further.

What's sad is they can arrest 1000 Juan jrs and there will still be 10000 to replace them so it really makes ZERO difference in the grand scheme of things. The war on drugs is and always will be a failure because as long as they're is a demand there will be a supply. You fix the problem by fixing/helping the addicts by increasing in more free rehabs and mental health clinics not by building more fails and hiring more cops. THAT is the root of the problem, that is how you help the people stop killing themselves.
